OBX Racing Headers on 98 Maxima

Does anybody know how much work is it to install OBX Racing Headers or how much does it cost to have a shop install them?
And is there any big modifications that need to be done?

you have to cut your motor mounts in order to fit these.. also the ypipe design is very poorly designed. Also the diameter of the piping is 2.25" when it should be 2.5"..

I heard to put on headers it will cost a lot of money and take a lot of time because of the second set being behind the motor. Alot of people on the org will tell you that it is not worth the money for the little horsepower gain you get from installing them.

the best header/y-pipe combo is the cattman headers systems, it is costly (~$800), but its worth the gains and fits great, cattman are working on a prototype header systems, should be out soon.

What about if you have a CALI spec max with the cat built into the header?? What would be the best combination to remove that?

ya i heard that headers just make the car louder, and theirs almost no hp gain, and even the small amount of gain is still no performance gain.

expensive, but i belive only good if your going to have boost.

not to mention no one mass produces headers for the maxima, they have to be made custom and thats expensive, i think cattman is the only site i know of that will do anything of the sort for a reasonable amount of money yess 800 is alot but its cheap compaired to alot of other places.

if your going to get headers do your self a favor, give it some boost while your at it, super charge or turbo charge that beast, the gains will then be worth the money.

The cali spec maximas will have the best gains with the headers because of the smog components that will be removed.

only problem with the obx is the front motor mount conflicts with the far right header pipe (cyl 6 i believe) anyways all you have to do is cut a half circle out of the edge of the mount, had the guy who did my b pipe install it, all together it was still cheaper than just buying the cattmans

It doesnt make the car louder, it actually makes it quieter versus a y-pipe. It refines the sound of the VQ. And the gains are definately there, especially in higher rpms. Its just that the gains are minimal over a y-pipe. And if your going turbo then these are not for you, you can only go the SC route.
