5speed conversion guys- Will the Park/neutral position switch trip CEL?

Just wondering if the park/neutral position switch will trip the CEL? The reason is because I have the codes for the rear o2 sensor(07 07) and also the park/neutral switch code(10 03) and I will be fixing the o2 code soon so that leaves me with the parl/neutral code and was wondering if it pops the CEL or is it a ghost?

Not a ghost... Gonna have to replace the switch.

I get the park/neutral switch CEL a few times a year. Weird thing is that it was replaced with a new one when I did the manual conversion. Anyway, for me it's not that big of a deal to simply reset the CEL a few times a year.

A few times a year would be nice. I get it every three or four weeks.

1 Bypass the P-N start switch
1.1 TAKE OFF BATTERY CLAMPS (neg and pos) to make sure you don't mess something up electrically.
1.2 Remove the entire air box assembly and lines so you can see onto the top of your tranny.
1.3 Disconnect the harness that goes into the front of the tranny that only has 2 wires. (Note: the front of the tranny refers to the part that is closest to the front of the car)
1.4 Get your wire and cut a 6 inch strip
1.5 Use the wire taps to connect the 6 inch piece of wire to both of those wires (This will in effect connect these wires)
Addon to the instructions:
In step 1.5, it says to connect two wires on the tranny harness. You instead, need to run a wire from both of the tranny wires, to the clutch pedal switch(small switch that is engaged when you push the clutch all the way down). This will let your car know when it is "Neutral(since it thinks it is an automatic)".. your reason for doing this, is so that 1. You cant start the car without the clutch(safety)... and #2, SO CRUISE CONTROL WILL WORK.

1.6 Don't reconnect the plug.
1.7 Connect the battery.
1.8 Put your parking brake on
1.9 Try to crank your car (Don't start it, just see if it cranks)
· If it does not, retap the wires or connect them in some way. And try to start again.
· If it still does not start you can't follow instructions and are not capable of doing this yourself since it is the easiest part.

I'll give it a try. Funny though, I might have already have it bypassed when I converted since I can start the car without clutching. Gotta check under the hood again.

Heres another writeup someone told me a long time ago that worked for him. Sorry I forgot who sent me this, its been awhile.

I took 4 wires from the 9 pin auto harness that plugs into the gear selector switch. Two of them from pin 1 and 2 was for pnp and I hooked it up to the 2 wires on the manual transmission that was for pnp. With this, the car only starts when it's in neutral and u hafta put the inhibitor relay back in.

I dont wanna ***** up the thread but since you 5spd converted guys are already in here, I would like to know if this is a problem, im 40% done gathering parts for teh swap but i've been thinking about this since I started, my friend enlarged the hole for some dumb reason that I dont know, that hole was already there, but alot smaller...

Is this gonna pose a problem for me to install tehclutch pedal/master cylinder?

Mine was bigger than that so I dont think you will have a problem.

You need to make a hole large enough for the master cylinder to insert into, and it needs to be centrally located in the area you have shown. The pre-existing hole you have shown will intersect with the edge of the hole you need to make. That may not be a problem if you use a hole saw that has a central drill bit to make the new hole.
