90k mile tune up?

I just had to recently get an oil change at a local shop (no time for me to do b/c work)...anyway...the guy said my car (89k miles) is due for a 90k mile tune up? Total estimate for this tune up came to about 250$...but is a 90k mile tune up necessary? I did have the 60k mile one done...let me know....and if a 90k mile tune up is in order...what should i look to have done. just going from memory, the estimate consisted of rotate tires and balance, air filter, oil change, and a few other things i forget...

Full tune up's are done at 60K intervals. You probably should change your air and fuel filters every 30K for best performance. Has your transmission oil or power steering fluid ever been changed? That should be done soon if it has never been done.

Your owners manual has the complete maintenance schedule in it.

the intervals are by 60K

Things to include:

- oil and filter (if due)
- airfilter
- fuel filter
- coolant/anti-freeze
- tranny fluid (every 30K)
- spark plugs
- PCV valve ( i haven't done this but I beleive its a 60K item)
- check or replace accessory belts

Those are pretty much the main things that come to mind.

You should be able to do most if not all of these, just space the work out over a few weekends and check the stickies as they help for most of 'em.

A quote by a stealership for a 60K service will make you sick. Besides, you will get to know the ins and outs of your car that much better.

The main things to do for the 90k service:

-Radiator Flush
-Air filter
-Fuel Filter

There really is no point of paying $250 for this service.

I would certainly check all belts and hoses as well.

i just want to know since in 2-3 weeks i already drove about 2k miles....so 30k n 60k quite of a difference in the amount of changing it....n changing the tranny fluid isn't fun since i have to drain it so many times since i'm a cheapo n dun wanna pay for the $100 flush

I have a 5-speed, but I believe automatic transmission fluid should be changed every 30K. I would be inclined to flush it at 60K. If it hasn't been flushed by 90K, perhaps it could be, rather than a drain and fill.

Just something to think about: I have been advised not to do a flush because the flush can actually damage the tranny by forcing loose material back into the tranny.

if it is not slipping, then just drain and fill with regular dexron for our tranny. if there are many mileages on the tranny oil then do another drain and fill after a few weeks.
