Is it ok to remove plate that ac compressor bolts to?

I have removed every part of the ac system and want to remove the plate that the compressor gets bolted to. If i do this i will only have 2 of the three bolts that secure the belt tensioner. It also seems that maybe it is securing the lower oil pan. Should i remove it? It weighs less than 5 pounds.

It was removed on my old motor, I left it on on my new motor so that the belt tensioner had all the bolts in use. I didn't notice any negative effects of removing it, but I'd say that bracket is only about 2-3lbs.

The only thing that is going to be hooked up is the alt so i'm thinking the tensioner should be all right with 2 bolts. Every pound is going to add up and the engine should look less cluttered without it.
