Powdercoating vs. Painting?
Powdercoating vs. Painting?
I'm getting the 300zx calipers for my BBK and was wondering is it worth the extra $$$ to get them powdercoated over just painting them or just leave them as is?
Any pluses or minuses of powdercoating/painting them? (ie. traps heat in the calipers?)
TIA

I would just paint them. High temp paint designed for brakes works well enough. G2 works great for me after a year and others I know. Brush on is best.
never thought about the powder trapping heat. from those builder shows, they sure coat a lot.

I paid $32 shipped for a G2 kit. Even if powdercoating were the same or a little cheaper, you have to dissasemble the calipers, bring or ship them to the powdercoater, wait for them to finish, perhaps pay for return shipping, reassemble them, and then put them on the car. G2 kit, you can paint them on the car and because it is a lacquer, it won't be affected by brake cleaner. Like I said above, unless you plan to rebuild the calipers anyway, G2 or Folia-Tec is alot easier and comes out just as nice.
