My max idle's @ 400 RPM - help
It doesnt do it constantly, just when I come to a stop, and put it in nuetral, it goes down to about 350 or 400 RPM and sounds like its gonna die for about 2 seconds, then it goes back up to about 750 RPM . Has anyone ever had this problem or know what its caused from?
thanks

They have a idle speed adjustment (Adjusting 4th Gen idle speed) process listed under Maintainance. I did it last night, and I now have a 4th gen that idles like a LS400. Bigtime difference, and was really easy to do. I did the process recommendations just as they wrote, and the results were perfect.

I'm not sure if this helps you, but since it's not a constant idle at 350-400, when this happened on my 91SE I had to replace my spark plug wires and that helped alot as I was having the same problem at idle with the rpm dipping down. Another thing I thought was the problem was the o2 sensor. Just a thought...

I've always had an appreciation for cars of all kind. (i even build model cars
) but the maxima is one great car...so much that i upgraded from a 91 to a 99. My friends get tired of me talking about my car to hehe, I went camping this weekend and I spotted one maxima out of 5 days being there. Yeah, I Yelled out 'There's a maxima!' and my friends just looked at me, then continued talking

Yes spark plug wires connect to the top of the spark plug. I 've gotten mine at autozone before (i can't remember brand) and they worked just fine.
