I just got a set of 18 in. Konig Rated Rs wrapped in Nitto NT555 235/40ZR18. When I drive down the highway, there is a howling sound coming from the front left. It quiets or even stops when I take my foot off the gas. Is it just the wider tires sound, or maybe cause there brand new? Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

have you gotten them aligned yet? they are probably just road/tire noise. every tire sounds different while some are louder and some are quieter. unless you havent gotten it aligned yet, i wouldnt worry about it.

i haven't gotten it aligned yet, because I am doing my brakes, shocks/struts, and RSB soon. I though i'd wait until I got those done to align it.

I just put my rims on my car and i have the same tires you do. When i put mine on i heard the same thing i thought it was just the tread of the tires. My car is pulling to the left so i am going to get it fixed.

A slightly out of balance tire will not vibrate, but it may be noisy. Screw in your tire? That sucks! I had the same problem with my new tires. A week after I got them, flat tire already!

i'm going to have the balance checked on the one wheel, but it worries me because it only seems to do it when the clutch is fully out....not when its in, and it kinda starts when i let the clutch out. Its bothering me a lot.

Could it be something to do with the tranny? Maybe my brakes are gone enough to make that sound? Something, please tell me its not my tranny?

Thanks....

Taking your foot off the gas transfers more weight onto the front tires as compared to running at a steady speed --

Also, the torque to the wheels can cause them to toe in or out depending on the control arm bushings --

So those combinations of weight transfer and alignment can make changes in the tire sound --

My Potenza S-O2s develop a strong low pitched rumble when I hit the brakes coming to a stop --

Typically, high pitched howling is caused by uneven contact across the tire -- typically because of camber angle -
Combine high camber and toe angles and then you have a noisy tire --

Most maximas with lower profile tires always have noticeably higher tire noise from the rear of the car because the solid axle sets up the rear camber at -1 degree or more --
