How to clean hard-to-remove crap from rims help!

I have mille miglias like many others here on the org. One of my rotors (rear drivers) wore down completely since I had no time to get it fixed. finally have it fixed, but the metal powder material from the rotor is now distributed all over the rim. Tried using a really stiff plastic brush and some castrol wheel cleaner, but the areas I scrubbed are now dull (clear-coat came off...I was silly to use the brush). But the dillema is that the metallic material is very difficult to remove otherwise. Any advice on how I can safely get my rim to be nice and clean again?

I think as the rotor wore, it was getting hot and the dust would fly off and onto the spinning wheel and implated onto the surface. I was able to remove some of it, so it CAN be removed, but would like to know what others can suggest as to the safest way to remove it. Thanks!

wheel acid will get anything off, but might muff up the clearcoat if you leave it on too long.

Once you get it clean, id recommend using some kind of wheel sealant to keep crap off it and make it easier to clean in the long run.

Agreed, I wax any new wheels I get before mounting to help that.

The Milles are painted right? Treat the wheels just like your paint. Wash, clay, polish, and a couple layers of sealant. Wax doesnt last on wheels because of the heat, so you need to use a sealant. I use poorboys wheel sealant and brake dust comes off VERY easy, but any good sealant will work.

I tried this on mine and it doesn't get rid of all the residue. It did work great getting the rust off of my Mom's steel rims though.
