I finally bought a Maxima...

A couple members might remember the thread I posted a while ago about a black 2k2 maxima I was looking at that had a few problems. I decided to pass on it, and boy am I glad. Instead I got a charcoal (Gray Lustre?) 2k2, and it's amazing how much better it is than that other one I test drove.

It's a six-speed with 37,800 miles. Got it for $15,950, which is a little high, but it's in mint condition. The only option it didn't have that I wanted was leather, but the custom leather from that group buy looks pretty nice so I'll probably just get that. I'll put up pictures later tonight when I get home.

For those who have a charcoal Maxima, what color leather do you think would look good in it aside from black? Two-tone or solid, I haven't decided yet. Right now the cloth is a light-tan color.

Congrats! Go with gray or black leather, or two-tone (gray centers/black outers)

Another thing I thought of...is there any aftermarket equipment for illuminating more of the interior controls? For instance, the steering wheel controls aren't backlit so there's really no way to read them at night.

It's best to just memorize them if anything, not exactly a good idea to stare at glowing buttons and look up and not be able to see(after-image) while driving 65 mph. Know what I mean?

Congrats on the new ride. The price you paid sounds pretty good to me. Not at all high for that mileage. Plus it's a six-speed which can be harder to find than an auto. The fact that the steering wheel controls don't light up doesn't bother me at all. You quickly memorize the buttons anyway. The whole point of them is so you don't have to look down from the road to adjust things so what would be the point of having them light up anyway besides it looking nicer? Just my $.02

Well...why have the window/door lock buttons light up then? I mean, sure you can memorize the locations, it just bugs me that some stuff lights up and some stuff doesn't. If they're too bright, that's what the dimmer dial is there for. Not a big deal though.

If you really want something that looks good at night then get some Cobalt meters www.customenterprise.com. Be warned they are expensive.

Nice find. I think the gray lustre looks pretty good. especially when its washed and waxed, plus you found a 6sp so that's always a plus....

Wow, those are expensive.

Yeah, I am happy with the car. Gray Lustre is my favorite color, and the car is basically the exact way I would have optioned it new aside from the leather.
