Driveaxle/hub Nut Loose

My driveaxle/hub nut keeps coming loose. I've had to check it twice in the last month and it is easily turned by hand several times before feeling pressure. The cotter pin is in but when that nut comes loose, the wheel makes alot of noise.

Anybody have any idea why this is happening or what I can do to prevent it?

Check the thread on the bolt, and on the nut.. maybe some locktight on the threads will keep it tight

Do you have the star looking cap installed over the nut? That holds the pin and nut together. At least it prevents it from free wheeling too much

do you have a gold colored cap over the nut, then the cotter? Or throw some washers between the nut and pin so there's no room for the nut to come off.

Thanks.

I don't have the cap over the nut. I'll look for one and try locktite or a few extra washers until I find one.

You can got a junkyard and get them for cheap. I know my 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen maximas, as well as my 1st gen Altima and 4th gen Sentra have the same size nut. So maybe any Nissan sedan gold cap should fit.
