vq35
vq35
Alright boys the time has come for me to be a man and grow hair on my small ***** and start saving for a vq35.....went to the bank today opened up a "vq35" savings account....on carparts.com there are low milage engines selling for 1500-2000 so thats what im trying to scoop up, and ive got buddy mechanics that are down to swap it out for me for some beer and $200. I should have it all saved up by around new years or so...thats my goal atleast and im conviced and set my mind up to it.....just thought id share
i'm gonna grow some ***** on my hair to and put a the same engine. my boy has a shop and i'll prolly try to work with him (be his tool biitch). what else is required for this swap? ECU? there are some engines on ebay for cheap... but i doubt warranteed.
If your able the $1500-$2000 you would have spent, could go towards the member selling their VQ35 READY motor. Its already preped to be dropped in, cams drilled, with spacers, etc.
Just a little work left to be done (wiring with injectors) and pretty much done. If you seriously are going to do the swap, if you can find a way to purchase that engine from him, most of the fabriaction swapping work is done, you just drop in, plug in some sensors, put on some headers, put in good clutch, fill with fluids, tune and enjoy.
Just something to think about. Check the for sale section for the link.

If its a serious consideration this is the best time, all the thread you would have to read in order to know what to do isnt needed as its already done! You just drop the motor in, wire up injectors, slap on headers, and put in clutch. Tune and enjoy that lovely boost in HP that is unachievable on a N/A 4th with the VQ30 still in it.
If I wasnt so broke this would be so perfect. I need to replace my clutch anyways, Grrr. . . . it really is tearing me apart to be so broke right now

^^Yes, being broke is not fun. I want a VQ35 too...there's something about n/a power that I find sexy. When I do the swap, I'm going to do a tranny swap too. Probably when I graduate. I gotta keep telling myself *1 more year*. But it doesn't work.
you honestly think your "buddy" mechanics are gonna do an engine swap for you for 200 bucks and some beer? if thats truely the case, dont be suprised when your car breaks down cus of all the corners they cut. keep in mind this isnt like swapping an sr20 into a 240. if you are gonna swap in the full vq35 motor and not just the block with vq30 heads, you are gonna need the 35 ecu, harness and a bunch of other stuff i dont know about. from what my friend says who has done this swap, a lot of unexpected things come up and buying just the motor alone wont cut it.

I am doing the swap myself and just getting some help for the actual removal and install which is only an hour or so at best. The bulk of the work is removing and reinstalling all the sensors, wiring, axles, rad etc

Its a major PITA to do. The VQ30 ECU will accomodate the VQ35 with some modifications to the cams and timing system. There are lots of other little parts and work that needs to be done. If someone is going to do this engine swap for beer & $200 they are going to be pissed at the end. My swap took in the neighborhood of 60 hours to complete.

Good deal then. That is a definate homie hook up. The parts that take the longest are removing and drilling cams, switching over to the VQ30 timing.
