Personally I'm on the group and trying to spread the news to those who dont visit the Group Deal forum often. Being on the list by 6-1-01 is not enough, you will have to complete and return his confirmation form by this date. The more the better, as ususal the way GD goes. Later

I know this is always asked, but....
to anyone who knows or has an inkling of an idea....
What is the real difference between the 4(A/V) and the 2(A/V) tranny in the 3rd gens? I know that most of the 92+ VEs and some 92+ VG's(I think) have the 4(a/v), but was there a difference in the tranny internals or the VB itself? would the VE VB not fit on 2(a/v) VG trans or something like that? just wondering is all and trying to save some money ($700 Level 10 VB) in the process....

How far into the Level 10 VB are you?
I dont know of the internals difference between the 3rd gen trannies, but all (89-94) VG has the RE4F02A, while the VE have RE4FO4V tranny. Our trannies are similar to the 4th gen guys, we just have the LSD. Many have ask Don about doing a VB upgrade for the VG, but I dont think it has happen yet. Other companies like Level 10 can probably do the VG upgrade due to their experience with race prep auto trannies but at a higher cost.
Re: How far into the Level 10 VB are you?
I'd say the Level 10 VB is coming in another 4-6 months, once I get some maintenence issues straight and a little extra dough. I once heard somehting about Nissan using strengthened Raybestos clutches, etc. in the 4V's or something to that nature, but I'm not really sure...
oh well unless there is a miracle(Don doing a VG VB) I will be heading to New Jersey in December with $700 bucks in my pocket and coming bak with a Lev 10 VB......

DA-MAX,
Is there any way to convice cattman to do it? Like can we get a group of guys together, send him some cash deposit? I really want this mod as a tranny saver and I'm NOT paying 700 to Level 10. Oh hell....I should just put 5K down on a lease this winter and get a se-r/altima3.5/maixma3.5 and a low payment

Convince Cattman to do a VB mod??
As far as I know Cattman has no perosnal experience in the VB modification process so I don't think he could help us VG guys very much. I'm sure Don could do a VB for the VG auto if someone was willing to loan him their VB for a while so he could take a look at it, but until then my eyes are set on Level 10....Transgo also has a VB recal kit for $50, but it requires professional installation(unless you are very mechanically inclined), but it is not built to reduce ET's(like Don's and Lev 10) rather its purpose is to lengthen the life of the trans.

call me stupid, but can someone fill me in on what a "VB" mod is and how it works?

Re: Re: Convince Cattman to do a VB mod??
the VB mod will make shift time in an automatic quicker and reduce 1/4th mile ETs anywhere from .4-.6 seconds. it will also reduce stress on the trans since shorter gear shifts relieve stress on the clutches and bands(I think). there are 3 available from Level 10, Don Cooper and Transgo(this kit will not significantly reduce ET's).
