Trimming bumpstop...advantages and disadvantages?

So I'm looking into trimming my front bump stops sometime soon, and I was wondering what the negatives and postives are for this? I'm only looking to trim off one piece, since I'm only sitting on Maxspeeds. I'm guessing the entire spring/strut assembly would have to be taken apart? Or could it be done on a lift? Any help would be great.

i have the same springs and trimmed only the front. you do have to pull the spring/strut apart though. i dont think if the wheels were at full droop on a lift it would yield you aenough room to trim them. try jacking it up though. if you can get at them use a carpet razor to slice the first ring. again i think youll have to pull the front out though.

i got progress/illuminas..i didnt trim the bumstops and everything is good cept sum spring clunking but i don't think thats from the bumpstops..i think if you trim the bumpstops the shocks will travel more but if you don't trim them..the shocks will travel less and your rims will take some of the beating from rough roads
