2 more MODs for MAX2 (Fogs and Tint)

Two more mods went on today.

First, I got the car tinted. After I read Dues' horror story, I wanted to play it safe. I got an HP32 tint (not sure what that means) all the way around. Its dark, but not dark enough to draw too much attention to it.

What do you guys think?

Then I installed the fogs. On my original MAX I bought those ~$50 PIAA GT-X super plasmas and like most others, had one burn out on me.
So now, I installed these $5 dollar blue H3's off ebay. They are listed to be 100W and guess what.....they look EXACTLY the same as the PIAA's before they burned out!! See for yourself from the pics. These do not exactly match the HID's, but I honestly dont think there is a way to match them with just switching out the bulbs. But for 5 dollars, they're good enough for me.

Nice work... who did you get the fogs from on ebay?

The only "32" that Solarguard makes is the HP Charcoal 32, which is basically 32% tint with 15% reflectivity and a bunch of other stats that only they list on their film...

Looks darker though, but I guess it depends on whether or not you did the windshield and if your interior is dark (which I think is the case for both).

This is the auction I got the H3's from:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

To answer the rest of the questions:

1) Yes, the tint prob looks darker because my interior is black leather.
2) Yes, thats the G35 spoiler, also from ebay, ~$170 shipped and painted.

Yea, thats the one. They do a great job on matching the paint too. I recommend getting it, really good quality.

I installed it myself, all you need is a drill and at least another person (good to second-guess your measurments). If fact, the more I think about it I could've easily fuked up my trunk, so if you have any doubts in your ability, HAVE A PROFESSIONAL DO IT!!

Thanks everyone for your complements!!!

My fogs went out on my o4 about 1 week ago, has 34,330 on my baby. The delearship replaced them for free. Why did you by them off Ebay?

Mainly because the stock OEM fogs look really dim compared to the HIDs. SO I was basically looking for a brighter looking H3 bulb to better match the headlights.

I tried the expensive super plasma PIAAs before and had one burn out within a month of installation. Before I bought replacements I found out that almost everyone that tried to upgrade their fogs to match HIDs were also having theirs burn out.

So, I tried the ones on ebay just for the hell of it because they were so cheap. To my surprise the $5 dollar bulbs have the same look as the $50 PIAAs. They do match the headlights better than stock fogs. Only time will tell how long these last. I'll keep you guys posted.

How easy was it to install the fogs? I'm guessing it takes more time to take off the front bumper than to replace the lights...

H3 HID Kit or Yellow

I know someone has used an H3 HID kit in their car here but I cant remember who.

Anywhoo, fogs are used for driving in just that.....FOG or low light conditions where you want to see the lower part of the pavement. So im wondering if i match the color of my fogs to the color of my Xenons beam then i wont be able to see the light transition when actually driving in fog.

What are your thoughts, HID H3 kit, Silverstar H3 4000k, or Bright Yellow H3?

What would you guys get?

Thanks,

Kam

There's a sticky on replacing the bulbs... it's a pain on the passenger side because you have to remove the damn reservoir to reach in and replace the bulb. Crazy.

Yea, the pic is with the new ebay bulb.

Replacing the fogs is easy. If you have an aftermarket intake then you should be able to just reach in there. On the passenger side, remove that top cover with the plastic pushpins and remove the windsheild wiper fluid tube by turning and pulling. Once you have those off you should be able to reach in easily.

The whole thing took me 10min. ITS ALL ABOUT THE STICKIES!!!!

Yea thats true. I didn't expect them to actually be blue in color. I just wanted them to have a slight bluish tint like the HIDs appear to have. They only have a faint blue color when they are off (the bulb itself, not the appearance from the front of the car), but you can't tell at all when they are on.

Remember, these are not for everyone. I doubt they will do anything to help you see better in fog than stock ones. They are just a tad brighter so it doesnt look as weird to have on both the fogs and HIDs at the same time.

And from my experience, you get the same look as you would by spending a $hitload more on PIAAs
