For people who have the trunk lip scratches..some words on the TSB for it
I copied this from the Edmunds forum from a posting by a person who said he is a Nissan Tech. Sounds like a fix but these are his words not mine but looks promising.
First let me correct my last post by saying I was
incorrect....the NTB00-055 is in fact a Nissan TSB
number.
Ok...he it is.....The fix for the rear bumper is
the replacement of the 5 rear bumper fascia clips (
if you want to see the procedure, and have the
Maxima Servie Manual, it's on page BT-16.
Essentially, the rear lights are removed, the 5
existing clips are then removed, and 5 new clips
(85284-AD501) are installed. This cinches the rear
bumper cover closer to the trunk, thus allowing
more clearance for the trunk lip.
As for the scratch, they'll use a simple scratch
remover, or polishing compound to remove the
surface scratch or, if the costomer insists, will
repaint the rear bumper. A scratch remover or
polishing compound works just fine though, and is a
better fix than havinr the entire cover painted.
Hope this helps.

Look
at your bumper lip where it contacts the trunk when closed. You should see scratches along that lip and mostly see 2 lines that stand out(if you have these scratches)
If you feel almong the inside of your trunk lid at the edge you may find 2 bumps that line up with the scratches. Check out the TSB ...it lists vin #'s that may have this problem.
Mine does and looks like crap on the gray lustre

Re: Look
Okay, I have taken some photos. The first 2 are my car and the 3rd is a GLE near my work. Is this the same problem as the TSB? Let me know if this what you are talking about.

Mine has some of that scuffing
but it also has 2 distinctive white marks that match up with the 2 bumps I mentioned on my trunk lid....the TSB on the NHTSA site lists something like vehicles with vin# blah, blah, blah and above may have scratches on the trunk lip.
From reading the Edmunds board a poster suggested not to take this lightly as what is happening is those 2 bumps are wearing on the lip and its not so much tha marks it is making, it is the paint actually wearing off of those 2 bumps exposing it to premature rust...
I don't see those marks on your car or the other but I'd check out the TSB...besides that crap shpuldn't be on your bumper lip regardless...something is wearing there..
