First track day after 00VI swap..

Haven't been to the track since the swap back in the spring. Decided to go yesterday on a whim as a friend was going. I definitely was not what I'd call optimally set up to run best times... I had over 1/2 tank of gas (91 octane only), my a/f is not tuned fully yet, I have no idea if my VIAS switchover is set right, I didn't even have my custom CAI in, just my beat up Injen. Furthermore, we went to the worst track in my area (for those who know Ontario, St. Thomas).

Conditions were as follows:

Temp: 20C (70F)
Humidity: 47%
Baro: 99kPa (29.2 inHg)
Wind: 30 kmh (20 mph) almost straight on HEADWIND (more like 11 o'clock)
Elev: 600 ft amsl

It was mainly a test and tune day, the only event they had was for a local Z car club. The track was not sprayed at all. My biggest problem was traction, just couldn't get much at all (using DR's). Anyways, here's my best for the day:

60 ft - 2.178
1/4 ET - 14.150
1/4 mph - 100.94

I had a bunch of other runs in the 14.2's also.

Based on these results given the crappy track conditions (headwind included), the fact that my car is not optimally setup yet, and the lack of traction, I'd say the car's at least capable of 13.8 to 13.7's, especially if I could get off the line... even a 2.0 60ft should get me to 13.8 or so not including any additional gains from having tuning done and mods finished up and less weight (less gas for example). I also need to bump up my rev limit. 6900 is not enough. On that run I was bouncing off the limiter just at/before the finish line, so my trap speed probably would have been 101.xx.

Mods for that run:

00VI w/ 4th gen TB
Injen, headers/y/test/b
UDP, STS
JWT w/6900 limit and Greddy EU (not fully tuned yet)
Jbars, ES mounts, Eibach's and Illuminas
Stock SE wheels on the rear, BFG DR's on Millenias on the front
Race weight including driver ~ 3290 (fully loaded SE interior, no weight reduction except spare, trunk carpet and jack)

thats awesome , you seem to be getting off the line good enough to me with a 2.17 ? can you pull a 2.0 with dr's ? at any rate this looks awesome to me, with a bit under 1/4 tank gas and a few lbs tossed out the car was only .06 from 14.0x ! WOOT !

Lookin good, more potential there for sure. Sure like to see that EU at full potential as well. I have one coming.

Dan I went the St Thomas last weekend and even with slicks at 12 psi on a sprayed track I couldn't get traction N/A. Hate that freakin track.

Yes they're Mike's old tires. I'll get slicks eventually but he was selling them with the rims back in the spring for a decent price and I wanted something to tide me over...

And yeah, along with the other factors I mentioned, the trap speed was one reason why I believe the car has more in it yet..

I dunno... it's the first time I've run DR's. I was under the impression several others have managed 2.0's on DR's on a prepped track? This track sure wasn't though..

+1 to pretty much everthing you said! As I said I just went for the fun of it as it was the first chance I'd gotten in a while. I'm hoping to get my setup a little more complete and tuned and then go run at TMP before the end of the season. Don't know if it'll happen though. Plus it's not looking like the EU firmware update will be available in time either... we'll see. Nice to see you'll have one soon though, I believe eventually it will be the piggyback of choice.

What where your 1/8 mile times? Wondering how my car would do in the 1/4 based on your 1/8 times and speed. Of course your car has more things done to it but I might get an idea of where it would be

All you have to do is multiply your 1/8 mile by 1.55 to 1.57 to figure out what your 1/4 mile time would be.

No dyno yet... I was waiting hoping to have the EU fully functional so I could tune as well. But it doesn't look like Greddy will release it in time for the end of the track season so I think I'm gonna try and get on the dyno to at least set my switchover and tune A/F, maybe this week if possible.

Nice times!!

Did you have a MEVI before the 00VI? If so did you have the same mods and what times did you run?

No, no MEVI. Just stock USIM to 00VI = major upgrade!

Well, if you don't mind the extra time and effort, I'd definitely say go 00VI. And for someone who's got a boosted car I'm sure you're capable of dealing with the custom stuff.

60ft - 2.178
330ft - 6.066
1/4 ET - 14.150
1/4 MPH - 100.94

Sorry I can't give you 1/8 mi numbers...1/8 ET& MPH and 1000' were not available (not working) Like I said, it's the worst track around here. There's something always not working there...

I do have a better 60' of 2.121 but that run was best ET and trap for that day.

Not sure if you are being facetious there or not, but for any "normal" run, i.e. not a run with a botched launch or a run where you have to go 1/2 throttle through the first 3 gears or any of that nonsense, 1.55 to 1.57 x 1/8th mile time = 1/4 mile time to within a tenth or two. It's a pretty well known conversion factor. Doesn't work if you have a jacked up launch or have to pedal the car the whole time though.

those numbers look very similar to my Nx runs. except my 60' wasnt quite as good since I was on radials, but the 6.06 330' and speed looks like a 9.0x

Dandy has done his efforts, it's Greddy's turn. When I buy a 600$ product I expect it to do precisely what it's supposed to.

Not that it's any consolation but we're not alone in that regard. Many of the other engines supposedly supported in the EU don't work with the cam/crank signals. Greddy really rushed this out to market without it being fully developed. A typical business ploy, which is frustrating but not unexpected.

We will have ours working eventually, it's just one of those frustrating things to deal with. Once it works, it will be an awesome tool.

I had a good idea it wouldn't work 100% when I bought it. But I figured somebody had to take the risk and push Greddy otherwise we'd all be sitting here saying "I'll wait till it's proven to work to buy it" and nobody would actually push Greddy to make it happen.

I had four teeth pulled back when I was like 13, and also had 4 wisdom teeth pulled around 18ish. They did shots of novocain for the four teeth when I was 13, but unfortunately they pulled them in the reverse order that they'd given the shots in, so by the time they were pulling the last one, the novocain had started to wear off a little and I could feel that one. Then I went home and ate some soup but because my mouth was pretty numb still I didn't know that it was so hot that it burned the crap out of my mouth. My wisdom teeth weren't that bad though, bit of pain for like a day or two then I was good to go, not much swelling at all.

man the things we will do for weight reduction, lol ! root canal wasnt as bad as it sounds, no pain at all today, had a tooth pulled once and seemed to hurt longer after it was all over with.

I timed my shot with a stop watch to see how long my lip, mouth, and tongue would be numb and it took about 5 hours for it to wear off. LOL ! a bunch of lame spitting, slobbering, and cant feel anything on one side. good thing we dont live back in the old west when they give you a shot of whiskey and start hacking away. however they did give you a stick to bite on, rofl !

merry christmas to you guys, i got a new set of spark plugs, lol! put them in today, and we are having 2 days of drag racing after christmas so im off to try and beat my best in NZ yet again, blasted 14.24 is about the best I can achieve over here.

dandy will be getting the OOVI ready for install in january and will be in touch, will have to put the car on the dyno and then hit the track.

If you still have the USIM, the 00VI is going to make a pretty damn big difference.

Lol at Ceasar... weight reduction... haha.. And don't worry, we'll get you goin' faster in the new year with that 00VI. But let me know how you do on the 26th.

Wow Neal you really had some bad experiences there! I really should have gotten my teeth out years ago but thanks to some bad advice from my former, and I emphasize the word "former" dentist, it's now more of an ordeal. They're pretty sore now (2nd day). And for some reason I've got these incessant hiccups that don't stop 24/7. Sheesh.

And yes have a great Christmas guys! Eat lots of good food for me since I won't be able eat too much...
