Got new Cattman rear muffler section *pics*

I got my new cattman rear muffler section on my car...everything else is stock and its really quiet (just barely louder than stock). I'm throwing on my y-pipe tomorrow, so it should be a littler louder

I love the look of the cattman...nice and clean

Warning, pics are pretty large...

Does the cattman have the "pressure flap" that only opens one side at low rpm and both at high rpm?

the FC is definitely quieter than the cattman....PuppetMaster has gone through both FC & cattman and says there is a noticeable difference in sound....

and no there is no flap that opens at high RPMs in most aftermarket mufflers....I can quote Greddy, HKS, and the cattman all have NO flaps....I cant quote the FC 100%....cuz I hear it has alot of chambers which might carry a flap in one of them....

Definitely the frankencar, but I still think the cattman is really quiet w/o any other exhaust mods...

only oem has the "flap"

btw...is the cattman b pipe louder than the FC b pipe? I know the rear section is louder...but I do know that the cattman setup comes with a resonator on the b pipe...maybe a FC b pipe and cattman rear is loudest? puppet probably knows...i'm too lazy to search since this doesn't concern me.

$370 shipped from Cattman, mention that you're an org member and you get a 5% discount...

I was in desperate need of a rear muffler section since my stock one busted on me causing my b-pipe to rattle around quite a bit...

The Frankencar doesn't have that flap I don't think...

As for comparison between resonator sizes and sound suppression of the b-pipe, I don't know for sure, but from the pics, they look comparable:

Frankencar:

Cattman:

Btw, I paid $350 shipped for my Cattman rear from Steve G at SCO, after a 5% .Org discount.

yea that's what i thought. i dunno, i have the FC b pipe and from pics of the cattman, the FC resonator seems smaller... so i dunno i was just guessing when i said the FC + cattman rear would be loudest. who knows. anyone who had both care to chime in? i too am debating whether or not to go ahead and get the FC rear or cattman rear

i'm also debating on this, i honestly like the cattman tips better. also, i have a test pipe and y pipe, i dunno if i'll like how it sounds wiht cattman tho.

is it really worth getting the b pipe? or will i be fine with just the cattman rear section??

depends on what your goals are....if u want performance on a limited budget....save the oem muffler and add any aftermarket bpipe...its the bpipe that gives most of the gains, not the muffler....if u want a sweet sounding exhaust system, get the cattman muffler....it sounds very deep and very unique compared to others....the FC is a quality one too but i hear its lacking in deep throaty-ness in sound.....it all depends...

i think either the FC or cattman bpipe would do well well with the cattman muffler.....they both increase OD of the piping @ 2.5 inches....and gets rid of the restrictive bend that the oem bpipe has...

i'm not sure what i'm looking for, although i am on a budget. if the b pipe doesn't give a good amount of hp, then i wouldn't want to spend $300 for it. i know for sure i wanna get the cattman muffler, looks very classy and agressive at the same time.

i know you have a test pipe, headers, and full cattman exhaust. which is similar to a setup i'm going for (VQ30, y pipe, test pipe, stock b, cattman muffler)... how does it sound to you?

I think spending $350-600 on a cattback is pointless unless your stock one is falling off. Mine rusted out from the being in the NE, otherwise I would have left it stock.

There are almost NO GAINS from a cattback, the stock one flows quite well, its the front half that chokes it up.

Unless you have the money burning a hole in your pocket, or it is falling off, keep the stock one.

Save the money on the cattback, get headers and a test pipe and call it a day. I would not spend $350 because the tips on the muffler look nice.

true!

i already have a y pipe, which is decent compared to headers for VQ30, so basically, rear section is good enough for an exhaust system since our stock flows well. my exhaust is fine but perhaps i'll buy a cattman for haha's. btw i'm a broke college student
