H3 Bulbs for Fogs that match 6000K HID kit?
H3 Bulbs for Fogs that match 6000K HID kit?
Hey guys. I have a 2000 Maxima and I just got the Helios 6000k H4 HID Kit which now makes my PIAA Xtreme White Fogs look yellow. The HID light is the most clean white without any hint of purple or blue except at certain angles so I'm looking for the most straight white halogen H3 bulb I can find and the PIAAs are certainly not close to white enough. Any opinions? I'm more concerned with a color match than light output bc the output on the HID kit is so great anyways and I don't want to spend more money on HID fogs
I've continued researching especially on www.automotivelightingusa.com which is a good site with lots of different brands for each type of bulb...in my case for H3 fogs to match the 6000k HID H4 Kit i've narrowed it down to 2 I hope for a good hyper white match
1. Luminics Ultra White (5150k) http://www.automotivelightingusa.com...oducts_id=1017
2. Luminics Ultra Violet (7050k) http://www.automotivelightingusa.com...roducts_id=994
I'm not sure why, but it seems from searching that lots of times ppl get higher k ratings for fogs, altho I can't see how that would match. I was under the impression that in a smaller housing such as foglights, the 5150k Luminic bulbs would give an output of color similar to my 6000k HID kit in the bigger headlight housing so maybe I should go with that. My 6000k kit is called Ultra Violet color and that is what my option #2 is called but has a higher k rating around 7000. Which do you think would look better? I don't know why but I guess every headlight housing is different in color of light output, but my H4 kit is definitely more of a straight white when they are warmed up and very very little if any purple or blue color.

Kruppa, Lumincs Hyper White will NOT match your 6000k HIDs because on my friend's car it looks just like Piaa Superwhite, GTX, Sylvania Silverstar...etc. The Ultra Violet might be a better choice. BUT, that bulb is SO darkly tinted, your useable light output would be even more diminshed as opposed to a regular blue bulb. There are halogen bulbs in production that will match a 4300k HID, but nothing comes close to 6000k.
lol everybody gets HIDs and yellow fogs around me I just can't get used to the look..I don't really like it. I was just looking at my HIDs durin the day (it's very overcast) and they are definitely an ultraviolet color (it's just hard to say how the fogs would look at night if i got ultraviolet luminics bc the HIDs are very white at night but not so much during the day altho i heard the luminics are white with a hint of purple) so I'll just go with the Luminics Ultraviolet bulbs and see how they work...it's only like $23 anyways and it's their most popular bulb..i dont' care about the light output at all I just want them to match better than an off yellow color...and i don't wanna go the blue route...i like a purple look more than blue I think it looks less rice
it's true, hids make colored bulbs (hyper white, superwhite, extemewhite, etc...) look yellowish and dull. but the only thing that will likely match your hids will be a thicker color coated bulb to give off a color.
so far, piaa super plasma GTXs looked the closest to HIDs before i got 2k2 headlights. even my friends thought i had hids and they have factory xenons.
get the ultraviolet one!

Yah i think i'm going to try the ultraviolet luminic bulbs bc i've been closely looking at my HIDs during the day today when it's been kind of dark out and raining and its def a purple color to it especially when reflecting on black and silver cars when i'm behind them...it's only $25 wasted if it doesn't match but I have a good feeling it will look fine.
...plus HID fogs kind of ruin the idea of fog lights bc they will be so bright that it will just reflect off fog and let you see even less especially if you get a higher k rating like most people do which is why Lexus has yellow bc it cuts through bad weather conditions the best and plus i'm not worried about visibility of my fogs whatsoever..simply matching my HID headlights
Thanks for the suggestion...i'm going to research this if i'm not happy with the Luminic Ultraviolet bulbs

Wow I tried to take some pics during the day when you can really see the color and they all turned out awful I guess my camera sucks...here's one ok one where you can kind of see an ultraviolet tint but mostly white like I described
Here is the picture they always show of the 6000K Helios kit
and here is a picture of the Luminics Ultra Violet bulb

It looks like it would be a pretty good match...
As you can see from my picture, my blinker corner bulb is like an off yellow color and now I just need to find something that is a straight white color (my sidemarkers are a good color white and i'm happy with them so only the blinker bulbs need a solution)

Keep me posted on how that turns out I have some 6000k bulbs comming and i'll need to start considering alternatives for the fogs as well since I heard its a pretty tight fit adding the capsules to the 02 fogs.
