gear oil from bellhousing?

gear oil from bellhousing?

92 maxima manual dohc. there seems to be gear oil dripping from the bellhouseing where it meets the engine... syncros in first are about gone. can the inputshaft to flywheel leak? i dont know where else it could be comming from.

Your problem is either the rear main seal on the engine or the front seal on the tranny is gone....

your front input shaft bearing is about completely gone, and it's causing the input shaft to wobble and the seal to leak.

the only way to replace the seal is to crack the tranny case open, so you might as well rebuild the tranny while you're doing it... if you don't, it's going to leak anyway even with a new seal.
