oil leak

oil leak

i noticed oil around the oil pan back side (opposite side as drain plug). I changed the drain plug and still there. its a very small leak. anyone know of a common cause and how to fix it???

i dont remember any common probs with that...if its leaking from the oil pan you may as well order a new one and get it put on. if oil is leaking from somewhere other than the oil pan, that can't be a good thing. just keep watching your oil level.

Can't you just change the gasket around the pan? IF thats where it is leaking of course..

Sounds like the gasket. Why would you change the drain plug if it was on the opposite side?

I had an oil leak on my 02 not that long ago. Ended up replacing the gasket first, which didn't work, then we started to replace the entire pan itself. Just to be sure, though (before we put that on), we stuck on a new O-ring in where the oil filter and pan meet first, which fixed the problem.

But, according to Nissan, the oil leak is a common thing with our cars b/c the gaskets suck. They said that some people replace them 2-3 times per year Ridiculous.

I hope the oil's not dripping down from the crankcase, though...

Oil Pan

Either tighten the bolts around the pan or just go for a new one.
