Another custom grille with pics

My daughter wanted a grille like on my red car so I made another. Tighter mesh and smaller letters. Some guys didn't like the bigger letters on my first grille

Here's the overall look. Haven't modded this car except the Alpine Stereo. For a 93 with 173,000 miles on it, it doesn't look too bad IMHO and runs great.

I actually don't like the new one as well as the first one I did. I like the larger letters better and since they came in one piece it was easier to apply.

It's pretty nice. It's not ricey or ugly, it's just not really my taste. I think I would go no logo (just a mesh grill) before I would put the Maxima lettering there. thumbs up for being neat and clean, too.

Do you have the original Aztec Red hamburger logo? I would be willing to pay shipping to swap with mine -- it is black inside since the first owner must have had been in a little wreck.

I have to agree it does look alot sharper with the larger letters. no offense but it looks a little goofy with the smaller letters.

To answer a few Q's:
The logos came from the Dealer. The smaller one is 6th gen. the larger is 4th gen.
The "thundercat" is a PowerCat from Kansas State University.
I like the larger one too, plus I think on the red car the black inside is more of a contrast than the black against the dark green.
The smaller mesh was harder to work with too, as the larger mesh was stiffer.
Thanks for the comments.

I didn't cut my grill up, I just mounted the mesh over it after masking it off and painting the middle of it black. It took about three hours spread over a couple days (drying time)

Sorry for being a little off-topic here, but being the KU fan that I am, this struck me as kind of odd....

I looked at your first pic and noticed the K-State logo there....thought it was interesting since I'm from Kansas as well. But then I looked over and saw that it says you're from Lawrence?!?

What kind of person lives in Lawrence and likes K-state? Your car must get keyed alot or something, driving around with that liscense plate....

Look closer at the red car. I went to K-State for three years but graduated from Kansas Unversity. The green car is my youngest daughter's who is a soph. at K-State. She's using my Tundra to tailgate for the Big State Rivalry game this weekend!

I really like the way that came out. What did you use for the mesh and how did you adhere it? I've been wanting to do this with my grille for quite some time, but I knew without some direction I'd f00k something up. I think the dark mesh/logo-less look really fits the max's front apperance well

The Aztec Red car has 1/4 inch hailscreen, the Black Emerald car has 1/8 inch hailscreen. First cut perfectly to size, prime, paint. I used straightened out paper clips as tie wires. (tried copper wire and the paint didn't want to stick to it) Then you touch up the wires and they just disappear. Any time the mesh gets a little nick where the paint comes off you can use a little foam brush to touch up.

Kkennedy3-I tried to PM you and couldn't. I have a good friend that lives by you in Elinwood.

Ah, didnt notice the KU/K-state split tag in the background Thats pretty cool though. And btw, KU is gonna whoop up on K-state on saturday...in Manhattan even, lol. My family has season tickets to the KU home games, so I'm not going to be there, but it's going to be on TV locally anyway.

As for the PMs, yeah I had something checked wrong in my options page. It should work now, so if you want to talk there that'd be fine.
