When do you need to replace suspension?

Hi,,
I have a 2000 Max SE w/ 120k miles and all original suspension. Is there a recommended time to start replacing parts? Or do you wait until something fails.

Thanks

Wouldn't hurt to replace em, but if they ride fine and you're satisfied with it, just wait till the parts die on ya.

Are your dust boots on front struts still intact? Mine are ripped from age, salt and whatever else.. Still rides fine at 111k.

The front boots on my max are falling apart -- with chunks falling off. I have ordered a new pair and shall get it installed by someone. The steel shaft is visible now with no visible sign of wear/oil and with no rains in CA for another 10days, gives me ample time to set an appoitment and fix it for good (I always wanted to replace the struts with firmer ones and replace the boots simulatenously, but then the struts have to wait till I get my taxes returns from uncle sam).

Placed an order with local nissan dealership and it would take 2 days for the part to arrive. It cost me $22 a piece.

You might need to replace the shocks/struts, everything else should be fine. How is your ride? Did you do the bounce test?

It rides smooth enough suspension wise and the shocks still work.. What shock/strut combo is recommended? I am not looking for anything that rides rougher than stock. Is staying stock my best bet?

you might still think the stock shocks are still good but i bet if you change them out they'll be a lot smoother cuz that's how i felt haha i thought mine was not bad until i changed it. ok after 83k my suspension was pretty stiff, well it felt ok just not super smooth. but then i decided to change the shocks to see if it rides smoother. so i changed to tokico blues and stayed with the stock SE springs and indeed the ride was a lot smoother and i found out my stock shocks were pretty worn out. then after a week of installing the new shocks i changed my stock tires to some remington tires (not sure if anyone heard of them before) and the ride was like 10X's smoother. i'm very happy with how smooth the ride is right now and the road noise is now almost none after changing tires. so eh i guess if you want smooth ride get new shocks and tires maybe...that's what i did and ride feels great...feels like a new car again haha
