What about if remove P/S and A/C ?

Hey guys, I'm wondering if someone remove the power steering and air conditioning from his maxima, do they recover some HP & TQ lost ? I remember hearing older fellows saying removing both can free's up to 25 HP, is this plain stupid or is this make sense ? I mean removing power steering can make the car a pain to park but let say it's a track car ?

Cheers

You can get almost the same effect if you install an underdrive pulley and keep the accessories.

Hey RR5, I already have an underdrive pulley and all the available bolt-on, my next step will be either, headears + S/C or Turbo with I/C.

I removed the ps belt and bypassed the a/c and gained .2-.3 in the 1/4 mile. The effect of the underdrive pulley is negligible.

Hey Jime, interesting for when going to the track. Underdrive pulley free up few hp but nothing major.

Thanks for input.

you will gain more that using an underdrive pulley. Anything turning off of the crank is going to cause a loss of power no matter how much slower it's turning.

i cant wait for the temps to die down to bypass my a/c again. never bothered with the ps but might give it a shot. i used a 4 rib belt for the a/c bypass, just fyi.

I'd be curious to see the number on a dyno, with and without the ac & ps. Does anyone know how many HP it take to gain .1 on the quarter miles ?
