high mileage questions....
high mileage questions....
My 2000 is approaching the 120k miles mark, it runs like a beauty and I have been using full synth oil and gear fluid. Give the high mileage is there anythin in specific I should be looking out for? any preventive maintainacen? how many more miles should I expect before needing major engine or tranny work?

My max has 235,000km on it, and runs like brand new. I bought from a wholesaler I know who said he had one with 450,000km on it. (100,000mi = 160,000km).
you're lucky you have a manual trans. That's my only concern with mine. But if it goes, I'll swap with a 5sp.

I've got 82k on my 02 and no oil burning at all.
Mobil 1 every 5-10k
Tranny and coolant changes every 50k
Want to change the plugs before winter comes
My 02 just rolled over 90,000 and doesn't lose any oil.
I traded in my 95 with 200,000 and it was still a great car. It developed a very small oil drip but not enough to ever have to add oil. Other than normal wear items it never needed work.

I'm at 61.7k and I'm not sure if the tranny fluid has been changed, but I bought the car from the dealer with 30.5k. Do you think they might have changed the tranny fluid as part of the 30k mile maintenance schedule? I hope so.

In the 2k and 2k1 there is not an actual transmission filter, instead its a screen. I'm not sure if the 2k2 or 2k3 has a filter or not. The screen doesn't need replacing as long as there aren't any tears in it. I just cleaned mine out with some brake cleaner.
Auto tranny fluid change isn't that tough...just drain it while it's warm. You won't get all the fluid, roughly about half to two thirds. That is why it is usually recommended to flush it every other time you drain the fluid. I'm running Mobil synthetic so I drain mine at 50K.

October is free Nissan courtesy check at New England Dealers - Again. I dunno about the rest of the country.
I brought my to three different dealers last time this was offered few months ago. All three had different diagnosis for one humming problem from front end.
I suggest you use it, average and make and educated decision what might need to be changed. Some of them took the car for a ride, some hooked it up to consult, since I had SES light at the time.

My has run like a champ. I got 140k. It has been in the shop very little. Master went out, slave was replaced too. Burnt clutch, ONE ignition coil, starter and a battery. I have had it since 90k

What is Carbon blast - fuel additive for injectors???
What notes?
you can use silicone spray, just dont get it on the paint/glass. wurth makes some neat **** called 'rubber care', its silicone free. you might beable to find something at a parts store.
a carbon blast is like a seafoam. personally, i use water. decarbon for the top of the engine.

2000 Transmision
I am having to replace my transmission after 185,000 miles in my 2000 maxima. It pisses me off too, I was hoping it would last longer. Every maxima I have owned seems to need a new transmission between 150k-180k miles.
