Howdy. I was thinking about getting some of those intelliglo needles and white face gauges for my car (94 GXE). How do you remove the needles to slip the gauge faces on? I am scared that I will break the needles and I know those friggin' things are expensive as hell.

Anybody have any ides on how to do this? Instruction would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I just received that set. I am kind of scared to do it myself but if you order the set from importintelligence they have very specific instructions. Basically I think what you do is just turn the needle counter clockwise until you feel no resistance and that's the calibration point..you mark that point..take off the needles..put on the white face gauges and the intelliglow rings..then put the needles at the position you marked.
It goes something like that.

There's nothing to be scared of . I wrote those instructions (if they came with the white face gauges). What you need to do is, pull up on the needle with a little pressure (keyword: little) and while pulling up, turn the needle counter clockwise, if the little stubs that the needes rest on when the car is off get in the way, just lift the tip over them and continue hte process until theycome off. It should take quite a few turns.

As for the inteliglow rings...you could probably design them yourself. There was a post disussing their composition a few LEDs and other parts?

Wait...that sounds a lot simplet than the instructions that came with the gauges. So all you have to do is twist them like a screw until they completely cut off? What about the calibration point and stuff like that?
Also...if I put these on top of my GXE gauges..will they look green at night even if I replace all the bulbs with hyperwhites?

How do you make sure that the needles are in the proper places when you put them back on? BTW, do you have to disable the airbag system to put these things on?

cdawg and roman,

it IS simple. i had to write that extra crap so he didn't get sued. twist and screw until they come off...but don't rush it. a few seconds you'll save...or a few broken needles. if you pull too hard, the spindle that the needles rotate on will pull out and you're screwed. but if you go slow, NO PROBLEM.

as for recalibration, what I did was for fuel, I just filled up a new tank of gas and moved the needle to full. for temp, i left the car running for 15-20 mins, and moved the needle to the middle. for tach, look where your tach is now at idle, and when you redo your gauges, start your car and move the needle back to where it was before you installed your gauges. for the speedo, start your car, and wind the needle back until it sits on the "resting needle", or get in a long stretch of freeway with a friend, have them set cruise control at whatever speed, match speeds, and then you adjust your needles. i didn't have to do that, i did the first method. it may not be 100% acurate, but it works pretty good. hope that helps.

also, with the overlays, while you are in there, just swap out the bulbs, you've had stock bulbs for like 10 years, not a bad idea to do it all at once. but yes, the light will still be green, it might be brighter though.

Sounds easy enough.
It sucks that the light is still going to be green...that's actually really disappointing especially since I ordered blue intelliglow needles....should of just ordered green ones..that way at least they would match.
