cold/heat slider problem

My car (94 gxe) has the heat/cool slider stuck where it won't go all the way to the heat side.
I've had it do this before but usually I can force it, and then move it around and get it back to normal but this time it won't move any farther in that direction.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so did you find any solution?

When I get time I'll take the cover off and try to see what everything looks like in there and if I can do any good on it.

I have taken one apart that has the same problem as yours....The slide control rides on a little plastic rail, and that rail gets distorted after so many slides back -n- forth through the yrs. I found no way to fix it properly....

The best solution is find one in the junkyard to replace it with....

thanks

Thanks for the info, I saw another thread with a illustration of the part that was helpful too. I may lock it on hot this winter and then fix it once it warms up.

A new unit is fairly cheap from the junkyard or another org member.

Try greasing it, and if that doesnt work just replace it. On my car, the lever broke in the cold position during the winter, which means no heat! I had to fix it in the frezzing cold. Your better off doing it now before it breaks. I got a used one on eBay for $10.
