Lost 60-70 miles per tank after O2 and Knock sensor

did major maintenance and changed two O2 sensor and knock sensor, now the miles per tank went from 300 miles to barely 240 miles????

What can cause the degrade performance on mpg? It just don't make sense to me. Most ppl claimed to gain mpg and acceleration, but my car got worse...

Did you run the tank completely empty or ... MPG's are a better indicator.

Read the ECU and make sure that the knock sensor is still OK.

knock sensor (ebay, referred by some dude here)

Bosch O2 (autozone)

Check after 1st week, code still exist, 2nd week again, it was gone..how funny

Reset ECU (turn screw clockwise then counter clockwise x 2), correct me if i'm wrong

The car will pulls a bit harder rigth after reset, but my 60 miles are gone now...any comments

even with new knock sensor went bad again, but before all the work, i used to get 300 miles, can't justified with all these new parts.

Did you cleanly install the O2 sensor? I ask b/c if you get the anti-seize on the sensor, it can cause it to malfunction. Any codes?

Time to rebuild the carburator.

Seriously, you can't go by the number of miles per tank, you have to calculate your MPG. You also have to run through a couple of tanks...you could have had just a bad batch of gas, crappy weather, more traffic, etc. Give it some time. A new o2 and KS should make things better, not worse.

I thought the O2 and knock sensor installed correctly, I will scan for codes after another week of driving. If O2 fails, then THT may be right about O2 failure, and that's how I see it can get MPG worse.

Guys remember, with everything that needs to be clean or change mentioned above, none of it was done and I used to get average of 300/tank so just changing O2/Knock sensor it should either stay the same or better, not down to 50miles or more.

How long does it take for ECU to re-adjust and fully maximize setting with the new parts after resetting it?
