New Rims *pics*

Since I fawked up my Centerlines, I got some new rims. First I got a set of 4th gen SE 5-spokes, but a few days later I found a smoking deal on these ADR rims. They are heavy as hell, but they look pretty good. I weighed one and it was just a tad under 19 lbs. My Centerlines were right at 14 lbs each. Tires are some brand new Kelly/Springfield (made by Goodyear) EVO-Z. Pics aren't that great, since it was getting dark, plus my car is dirty since I have only driven it a couple of times this week. I will probably take some more this weekend and update my sig eventually.

Sick-Wit-It Rollahz!!!
It's amazing what wheels do to the loaks of a Max.
Are those 16 inchers?
What size are the rubz?
How much total?
Your car looks clean.

They are 17x7 rims with 225/45/17. The tires are very grippy. Z rated, AA traction rating, a 420 treadwear rating (high for a Z rated tire) and they have a thick rubber "rim protector" flange.

I am not going to say what I paid, but the rims were sooo cheap that I couldn't resist and the tires I got kind of a deal on.

Yes, Mizeree, my brakes look pathetic compared to the BBKs. I wish I had enough $$ to buy Shawn's.

I think I might sell the 4th gen rims and give some of the money to the guy that gave them to me, since he was so kind as to just give them to me. I am considering using them for track wheels, since 16 inch tires aren't going to be nearly as expensive as 17s.

Thanks, the color is actually gunmetal, but they have kind of a reddish/brownish tint to them. At first, I didn't like it, but it actually looks decent with the red, IMO. I liked the Centerlines better. They were very dark, almost black.

I don't really drive at night, so I keep the fogs off, to avoid damaging them when I park it, scrape driveways or drive on the highway (rocks). I have another set of brackets and eventually I am buying some high performance driving lights for the rare instances I do drive at night.

I am not saying where I got them, but they were new and in the boxes and the complete set cost less than one Centerline is new. The brand and model is ADR Formula 5. I think they are discontinued, so that's probably why I got them cheap.

I think it's probably average for cast rims and I would guess your Enkeis are a bit lighter and made better. However, forged rims, like SSR, Rays, Centerlines, etc. are more like 13-15 lbs each.

Dude, I had them in the for sale section for a long azz time. An .org member for Colorado bought them for maybe 2x as much as the aluminum was worth at the scrap yard.

*update*

I had today off, so I washed the car and took it for a "spirited" drive of about 60 miles round trip. I live in the boonies, so I just got on a two lane highway, then went into a large industrial area, testing the tires in areas with no traffic at all. I mean NO ONE, so I found a couple of corners where I could see the entire intersection and took them hard. I also got onto another highway and pushed it hard in some corners at a lot higher than the recommended signs. No problems whatsoever.

I LOVE the tires (at least on dry pavement), although accelerating with heavy rims isn't nearly as sweet as with the lighter rims or even stock rims. The tires grip unbelievably well and they are quiet and smooth, even up to speeds above the limit.

down by the industrial area:

A little better view of the tread design and wheels from the side/rear:

If you want a bigger rim (17+) that's lighter than the stock 15, you need something forged. Rays, Volks, SSR Competition, 350z Track Edition, Motegi Trak Lite, etc. There are others out there, too.

Look at www.Centerlinewheels.com they have some discounted rims for sale a lot cheaper than most forged wheels.

So maybe I will be changing lots of things under the hood once I'm back on my feet plus 20%+ discount depending on manager on shift

Yours are far superior. I never realized how heavy 17-inch cast rims are. I can definitely tell the difference in acceleration. The only plus was you paid about as much for one wheel as I paid for all four. If I had the $$, I would have picked up some more Centerlines or some other gunmetal forged wheels. I really like the dark wheels with the red.

I like the dark color of these rims. Works well, specially with the window tint and the black around the bottom of the car. VERY NICE!

I screwed up two (one beyond repair) when I hit some metal construction plates (my fault, going waaay over the speed limit). They still held air, but the bad one wouldn't balance. I sold them to an .org member in Colorado. I had them in the wheels for sale section for like 3 months.
