Service Light on-1999 SE-L, 61,000 miles?!?

Ok...this is the first time this light has come on. I left the car home for the weekend (go to umass amherst) and my dad gets an oil change done. I come back and see the Service Light on. Im like WTH?!?!?

What should i do? I seriously have no clue. Should i take it back to the shop i got my oil changed from? Or take it to Nissan to see whats up.

Could it possibly be the 02 sensors? But why the hell this early?!?!? It's all pretty gay

First off, relax!!! =). There are plenty of threads about pulling the OBDII codes and what each code represents.

Because you're the lucky one out of the few thousand or million. lol
Perhaps you should do a tuneup and clean some parts and replace a few fluids and maybe itll go away. But first, nonetheless, please check for what codes you have. Everything is in the stickies. The procedure and the "dictionary" where you put codes in and it tells you what the problem(s) is. Good luck and be patient! Now go fix your car.

You should be banned for a few days for not knowing what to do about a CEL.

Unless you want to pay the dealer $100 just to see why the SES light came on, I suggest you take the advice of others, or you can go to Autozone and they can pull the codes for free

At that mileage, it could be that doggone EVAP thing with the boost sensor, about $450 at the dealership. The con is it's expensive, the pro is you wont have it come back for years. Go to an inde. shop and they'll reset the lamp for $75, which is doing you no favors.

My advice is to reset the ECU, in the early stages, the light stays away for months at a time. When it gets worse and worse, the light comes back minutes after a reset, and the motor has difficulty starting hot.

IMHO the first time the light comes on, you're nearly a year away from what I describe in the 2nd paragragh.

As an aside, Knock on wood I disconnected my side airbag and reconnected it, and it's now been 2+ mos since the blinking came back.....next time some short valet touches the seat, the lamp comes back!!
