frozen caliper bracket
frozen caliper bracket
Well, I'm changing my front rotors yesterday and when checking the bracket pins found out that the lower ones are frozen- not happy, NE winters! Tried Pinnnacle nissan's website (and a few other similar ones) and I cannot find anything under "torque member"- which is what nissan calls it- i'm trying to figure out what the price is on the OEM vs Autozone. I checked under "caliper bracket" and same result- only autozone seems to have this.
Does anyone have any idea what the part number would be? ( i used the org search feature and, no game) Secondly, has anyone bought these autozone brackets? I found something at another site indicating that some one tried them but they did not fit. This is only one compaint so find it difficult to believe that they dont fit and autozone has not corrected them
. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had to replace these

You are not the only one. I just found out the lower caliper pin bolts on mine are both frozen. I did free them, though, with a lot of Aerokroil, patience and a crescent wrench.
I don't know the part # for the torque member, but you could go to junkyard and find those. BTW, if you go to NAPA and get their caliper, the package includes the pin bolts and rubber stuff (plus a reman caliper) but not the torque member.

Did the caliper pins shear off? I'm not sure why you need to replace your torque member. If you can get the pins out, just clean everything out, relube the pins and reuse them.
If you are having trouble getting the torque member off (so that you can remove) the rotor, then thats a different matter al together.

they're frozen solid, which means that the caliper does not move as freely as it should. This is resulting in the brakes dragging if you put new pads in there-I had to take them off.
Blasting them with some PB Blaster did not help either- this is when I gave up as PB has removed some pretty tough stuff for me.

they seem to have everything but what I actually need.I found this other site and they seem to have the caliper and the torque member as a set- which makes me think that Nissan is doing the same thing- packaging them together with the caliper. The prices seem to be pretty darn close I just have to figure them out. I'm going to email them and find out what the deal is. If it doesn't work, I'll be the sacrificial (that how you say it?) duck and get the autozones see how they work. Worst case, they dont fit, I take 'em back check and with junkyard or worse, dealership!

true, I can buy new pins but i still dont have a bracket I can use. Bro, they're frozen into the mounting bracket or as Nissan calls them- "torque member" . If I can't get the old pins out of the bracket (which I already tried) new pins dont do me any good which is why I'm trying to get a new bracket since they should come with the pins anyway. See what i'm saying?

just checked with the above mentioned website and they dont have the bracket either, just the caliper. Looks like I'm going with autozone wish me luck. I guess I'll find out if they fit as soon as they get here.
