Finally installed High Flow Fuel Pump

The other day I was bored so I decided to install the high flow fuel pump. It took about 1 hour for the install. One thing I've noticed after I started the car was that the aftermarket pump was loud. It makes a buzzing sound more noticeable from the outside of the car. To those that have done this upgrade, is this normal or do I have a bad pump? The unit I have is from Walbro. Thanks for any input.

mine's got a high pitched whining noise. the first time i thought it was a nitrous leak, haha.

So what are the benefits of up grading the fuel pump? I know it's preffered with nitrous but will it effect the performance of a NA car?

don't think you'll gain anything from that. you'll just run rich if you run an upgraded fuel pump with the stock regulator.

I had one in my last car, they are quite loud, the cheap one's are more of a pulsating noise, the dearer ones make more of a whining noise. Have you installed yours in or out of your car ? You can try using some rubber grommets to build up the mounts. i did this and reduced the noise considerably, though i had the ball bearing pulse noise, hope i was of some help.

You should hear the Holley one I have in my boat on a 390 Ford.You should be glad they dont sound like that I run a seperate switch just for the fuel pump I turn it on before I start it.eeeeeeeeeeeeee then you hear zzzzzwwwwwuuuuuuuummmmbbbummmbbbmmmmmmbubmbmmbubum bmbu!!!ha!ha! The feeling of 575HP behind the pedal is great.

I thought I had an exhaust leak.

I was all over the bottom of the car looking for the damn leak and guess what I figured out. It's the fuel pump

Can you answer a few more questions?
Did it just swap the place of the oem or is there additional items needed?
I guess you HAVE to run a FP regulator or do you constantly run rich or does the ECU control fuel flow?

Hey how about danger of ignition at the CAT? -->

running to rich is actually dangerous if you have an aftermarket Y pipe and your car is not tunned up.
The precats are removed (of course) and the exhaust goes directly to the main CAT which is very hot. Running rich with not good spark plugs or if the spark is not set to top dead center, some of the fuel may leave the chamber unburned and go directly to the Main cat and ignite. The CAT will burn, the O2 sensors will be affected.

Well, with the addition of the new fuel pump, you will need a Fuel Pressure Regulator so that eliminates the problem of running rich. It is fully adjustable but does cost more $$$; Also with the addition of the ECU chaning all the time. With the NOS kit, there is a Fuel Pressure Safety Switch which is set for a range in psi that is safe for using NOS so it wont be running rich there either.

I guess this is a reason why people keep blowing the blocks out of their cats or clogging it up.

Yeah it was just R&R (remove and replace) the only thing you have to get is a new gas tank o-ring(unless you are careful) because once gasoline comes in contact with the old one it will make it expand. So far I have the pump in but haven't installed my Stillen FPR. I haven't found anywhere to mount it to yet. But I haven't had any problems of running rich, at least no fireballs out the exhaust
