what winter tires have same/as good dry traction as the stock toyos?
it looks like my stock toyos will wear out this summer/fall and since I'm planning on getting new 17" rims/tires for next spring I'm converting my 16" wheels into my winter wheels.
I live in MA so we get a lot of snow but it almost always melts the next week or at least the roads are cleaned so they are dry most of the winter. Now here's my dilemma, since I will be doing a lot of dry road driving even in winter I don't want to there to be a drastic difference between my summer tires and my winter tires, for that the winter tires need to have the dry performance of the stock toyos but also have good/above average (not excellent) snow/slush traction. I don't need excellent snow traction because over the last 2 winters the stock toyos have been enough for all the piles of snow the car saw, I never had any spinouts or skids (which were not intentional
)
so to make this very long story short: any suggestions?
p.s. nothing too expensive (<$100-110 per tire), and although the Pirelli SnowSports would be nice they are way too expensive for winter tires

There is NOTHING like a winter tire for winter. No matter how well yout Toyos ran, the performance of a winter will kill it.
Well, that is not true. Michelin Arctic Alpins are worse. They are as useless as T|ts on a bull, **** on a preist.
I have Blizacks WS-50 and they are OK. If I had to do it again I would make sure that I got them more narrow than I have now. I have 225/50/17s summer and 205/65/15 winter. If I could have I would have run 195/70/15.
The one thing about winters is that around end February begining March you (I) start getting ansy and push the sh|t out of the tires.
WTF are you talking about winters now????
WTF am I doing answering this question? :-)

I have heard really good things about the Yokahama AVSdb tires. I live in NH so I know what you mean about the winters. I am trying to get these tires but they have been on backorder forever, so I am looking to other options now. But if you can find those I heard they were good.
