Best sounding muffler ever #199
Best sounding muffler ever #199
Anybody hear the twin tip Remus muffler? It sounds VERY good but its almost $350. Here's a link to hear the difference between stock and the Remus on a bmw. http://autoaccessorystore.com/remus_sounds.asp
I also want to know if I can get it cheaper anywhere.

It sounds pretty good, but my exhaust sounds deeper and has less raspiness than the one on the sound clip (and yes, my subwoofer is hooked up).
Besides, $350 for a muffler seems pretty steep and they don't make a cat-back for our cars. On top of the muffler, you have to have a shop custom fit it and everything. For $600 you can buy a brand new GReddy cat-back and install it yourself.
One thing I like is that they have a dual tip muffler, which looks a little more like the stock muffler. I kind of miss that look sometimes.
I guess I can't complain. I have people commenting all the time on how nice my exhaust looks/sounds:

I like the greddy sound better than the remus. Bmw's are a totally different class in it's self... I like the system I made with a g35's dual muffler. But it's all what makes you happy. I know paying over 300 for ANY muffler wouldn't make me happy unless it gave me unrealistic horses.

What if what???...It's just a matter of preference....
I'm going to get a Hayame type 5 muffler. My friend has it on his '97 240sx and it sounds really nice.
My car is the same way. The intake is alot louder than the exhaust from 5000-5600 rpm.

I have to agree with the "intake louder than the muffler" bit.
Mine is much louder on heavy acceleration. When I am just cruising along with the windows down, the GReddy sounds great, though.

Anyone have a sound clip of a VE Maxima with the GReddy? I have the GReddy on mine but it isn't running yet (gettin there) I've always liked the way GReddy sounds on everything else tho and can't wait to hear mine.
Also, the BMW is an I-6 where we have V-6. A V6 and an I6 generally make different music. I don't think you are going to get that same sound if the Remus was on a Maxima, not that it would sound bad. IMO an I6 makes better noises than a V6 and a lot of V6's just sound like crap if they are loud. There are other factors for exhaust tone but IMO the number of cylinders and the layout make the biggest difference; you usually can tell if a car is a 4, 6 or 8 or whatever. I just gag when I hear FWD GM V6s even with the factory exhaust

I also need to hear the Greddy on a VE. I have the warpspeed b-pipe with a ebay cat ready to go on, but no muffler. I just dont know which to choose yet. I might end up with the Greddy.
I prefer the Remus over stock on that beemer, but like someone else noted, for the money saved I am more than pleased with my Magnaflow.
TripleG posted a link above to the thread where I left a clip of mine.ja vanna hear? scroll and clicky
