H&R's all around, sag in the back, so i'm at 25.5" height.

previous setup was 16" SE's, then 19" moda's on cattman coilovers (rubbed as well)

good thing about these is that the rubbing is only on a certain protrusion, so i figured if i dremel that off, we'll be good. let's see...i just started.

dont' really care about 3.2%, if that's considered a worry. do you really think that is such a bad thing?

and well, the only reason i'l change from that size is if this dremeling doesn't work, and i'll look at 235/45's....so maybe someone would like to buy these =)

According to tire size calculator, when your speedo reads 60mph, you will be traveling 62mph...

I think 235/40/18 would be perfect for 5th gens....45 series is too thick on 18s....from what I've observed...but I do know some who upgrade their aspect ratio to increase comfort...

wow really? The 5th genner must have had a mild drop or the rims were a high offset. I have 245/40/19s with ksport coilovers dropped pretty low and it rubs on occasion.

Polo, is it rubbing front or rear? The 3.2% larger than stock shouldnt be a problem. I'm currently 3.3% larger than stock and I dont even notice the difference.

well i've seen where the rub is occurring. as i mentioned, the bumper and the fender (rear) hold themselves via a 90 degree bend and then through a bolt. that seems to be the only area where there's rubbing. i went ahead and dremeled it. last nite i went to a friends house and went through 3-4 areas where the road dipped, cause my rear end to drop, thus to test the rubbing, and nothing happened. i'm quite happy, although a true test would be with people in the car.

i do realize that 40 series may help, but i paid for these wheels+tires, not really interested in spending money AGAIN just for tires. i got a good deal too. the tires have literally 90% treadlife on them, they still have the spikes on them, and it was $550 for the set.

i'm going to take a few pics in a bit. i'll see how close i can get to the wheel well w/out losing focus on the camera.

ok, i'll add this as a statement. yes, i know we can fit 2k5 wheels on a 2k2, but what some people should know is that OEM tires on 2k5 wheels will not fit a 2k2 w/out rubbing (lowered). with that said. here are the picture.

First picture is a side shot of what was dremeled. if you look closely, you'll see it. compare with your owns cars and you'll see how much it sticks out. rest are just shots of the wheels.

ok i have the same size 145/45/18 on 6th gen rims but i have a 4th gen. my frotns rub when the steering wheel is turned out all the way. that is the only rubbing i have. i plan on getting 245/40/18 in the front and was wondering how wide are the 6th gen 18s? can i put something little bigger?

245/40/18 might correct it...

I believe the stock width is 7.5 wide on those rims....and I doubt you can run anything higher (255s) on a 7.5 safely....just get some 8.5 or 9 wide if you want to run such a tire

next update:

they still rub. unfortunately, it's too dark to see exaclty where. it happend with 2 more people in the car. seems like if they weren't there, i'd be fine. im thinking of lining the inside part of the wheel well with some white marking and then wait until it rubs and see what it's hitting. i think it's that screw part and ijust haven't dremeled enough off. we'll see. for now, i'm still keeping the tires/wheels

What is the offset on these 18" Maxima wheels?? 30? 33? 45?

I've had very similar problem with 17" wheels from 350 Z. The offset is 30 and the wheels stick out. The tires were too tall. (235/50/17) and there was rubbing at the exact same spot. The dremel helped a lot. I am still going to put lower profile tires in the future because the 235/50 is definetely too tall. At least, there is NO wheel/fender gap. (i'm stock).
Next tire will be 245/45/17

yeah, i agree they are def. wide and there is def. not much gap, which i love. i jus tdon't want to buy tires so soon. the tires that came on these wheels are practically brand new, so i want to get some life out of htem.

in either case, tonite i'm putting whiteout on the inner wheel well lining. it can come off with nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol so i'm going to see which parts scrape off when the car rubs. very happy with the wheels overall.

3rd picture down looks like you have a bubble in the front tire.

yes, that's a bubble. small one, not too concerned. i'll be keeping on eye on it. if it does start growing, then i'll have to look at new tires.

went out to lunch before with 2 coworkers. hit a bump, and it rubbed, but ever so slightly. i only heard it because i was waiting to hear it. if i wasn't thinking about it, i prolly woul dhave never realized. more and more i think it's just that screw area and i haven't dremeled enough off.
