Hankook Ventus HRII H405

Anyone have these tires? I'm looking to get a set for my Max. At $129 CDN per tire they sound like a fairly good deal.

I had them on my old set of wheels no real major complaints, but I felt that traction in the wet could have been a little better.

Yup, had a set of 17" on mine. Overall a good tires I thought, drove on them for two summers. Good cornering capability, good traction on wet and dry, and look nice too... Did not use them in winter... If you are getting a set of 17s keep in mind that they need to be inflated to 38 psi. I know that sounds high but it is recommended.

I still have the stock Potenza's (17s). They are inflated to 33psi. Should they too be at 38?

BTW, I'm also looking at a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX. Slightly more expensive but they have a better snow rating. Or at least the reviews on 1010tires.ca give them one. I have a set of snows from Toyo (can't remember the exact name). I'll probably use them for this upcoming winter but it will be their 5th season. There's already some noticable wear so I don't think they will be OK for next winter. I was thinking of doing without snow tires and just go with a good all-season.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who responsed. I was afraid my thread would sink into oblivion.

Happy that I can help :-)

Only Hankooks HRII are rated for 38 psi. Potenzas may be rated lower. It should say on the door or under arm rest what they should be at considering they are OEM...

I live in Ontario too, and first winter I owned Maxima I got a set of used steel rims with winter tires and have been using them during winter. I did not attempt to drive in winter with all-season tires. But again, I drive 50,000 km a year so I prefer to have some safety with winter tires... If I did not drive as much I may have considered the all-seasons...

The max psi on the Potenzas is 44 psi so I'll try putting in a little more air. Thanks for the tip.

I drive about 20-25k kms a year. Less in the winter since we also have an SUV. My first year with my max (bought it new) I did not use snows. For the most part it was OK but there were a couple of times when the snow was heavy that I almost lost it. The next year I got snows and it was much better. Still not very good on ice though. Hmmm...I guess I'll get the Hankook's and try them and see how they perform in the snow. If it's bad then I'll get some snows.
