SS brake lines?

Last year when I upgraded my brakes I wanted to go with SS lines. I bought the car from my father who is a sales man at a Lincoln Mercury dealership. Origanaly he had told me that the car was a GXE, being my father I have no reason to doubt him. Until now that is. I just went out to the car and looked at the VIN plate under the hood, and sure as **** my 6th letter is a V, designating an SE according to the stickies. Tire rack from whom I bought my rotors and pads thru, I know they aren't the cheapest place to order from, told me that the SS lines will not fit on the GXE. Now knowing that my Max is an SE I wish I ordered the SS lines last year. Tire rack insisted VERY stongly, to the point they called my house to let me know the SS lines would not work on my car and they will not be shipping them with the rest of my order, do not buy them. Now I wish I had. So what is the diff between the GXE and the SE brakes that would render Goodrich SS lines useless on the GXE.

Uhhh.........Im pretty sure the lines are the same. The only way I could think they would be different would be for ABS, but I dont think its an issue. There is a G/D going for the Technafit Lines from BrianV. I have these lines on my car and absolutely love them.

No difference in the brakes. The lines should fit any 4th Gen Maxima, regardless of the trim level.

If you read the stickies (FAQ for instance) you will be able to definitively determine what model you have.

not to be a smart *** but it looks like I did read the stickies. I was just curious because like I said, tire rack would not send them to me to put on a GXE. I thought it seemed a bit funny.

Thanks for the feedback guys, and I think I might check out the G/D.

I did see that actually. I just meant that back when you were ordering the lines

In any case, the brake lines should fit.

I wish I knew about the ORG when I did the brakes, Then I could have checked what trim pkg I had. but none the less, I'm sure I'll be needing pads again shortly and will more than likely pick up the SS lines to do at the same time. Again, thanks for all the feedback. It's nice to see a forum that doesn't flame all the newbs on every post.

You're welcome. Since you've already made yourself familiar with the stickies, you're already on the right track and have the right attitude. Cheers.
