Ever since i did my retrofit/hid's iv been mad paranoid about them being stolen. just got me a 791xv alarm. My questions is; should us 4th gens be concerned about our hids being stolen since everyone else is getting jacked (5th gens, TL's, etc....) its probably harder to take on ours but still, dont kno im kinda paranoid i was thinking of mounting a shock sensor on the back of each headlight housing for extra safety.....

 

IMO, you really don't have anything to worry about since the common thief KNOWS that the cars you mentioned come with HIDs.

So unless you are targeted specifically, you probably shouldn't worry.

The others get jacked because they are all a one piece unit, the thieves do a "smash and dash". They are really wanting the ballasts AND bulbs not really the projectors. If you are still real worried get a hood lock and mount your ballasts seperate, not physically attached to the lights.

 

well my ballast is seperate. im not only worried about just the projectors. thats crap im worried about the whole thing. bulbs and ballast.
and yea they kno those cars come with HID's but like if they follow me or something, thats wat im refering too. even though i turn them off in my neighborhood.

My friend on my block had a honda civic with custom projectors and viper 791xv alarm and had his lights were stolen, spoiler, and sound system. And his two pager never alerted him.

I know everyone swears by this alarm, but since so many people have it I wouldn't be suprised if people knew away around them.

Remeber if you can make it you can break it.

I wouldn't really worry about it but I know what you mean. If there were a bunch of shady retrofitters in your area and you had some s2000s then I would worry about it but the way things are going, with more and more car hid will probably start becoming standard. Alot of times the people that rip you off are the ones that know you. Check with your insurance and see if you can add them on.
