It really does exist.
I was driving on Northern Blvd in Great Neck, New York.
On the side of the road, I saw a Black 2000 or 2001 Maxima pulled over.
It had strobelights inside the grill, and the headlights were flickering like crazy.
Also had strobes inside the car, in the front and rear windshield.
Just like the way undercover Impalas look, but it was a Maxima.

There was nothing special about it.
Plain Maxima, with 17" rims, like any other you see on the road.
I was so shocked while I was passing by.
The undercover Maxima pulled over a silver Mercedes CLK, right in front of Americana Mall.

Just thought I'd share that with you guys.

 

Yeah they do exist. My father is in the NYPD and some of the officers go out and buy the strobes and LEDs to turn their personal cars into an undercover car. although, it is very rare that they are ever allowed to use them. They are also something to look out for, a lot of "imposters" posing as police officers have been pulling over cars so they can make an easy car jacking

 

I have heard this too....but its over in cali...a guy with a silver STi that I met at the race track came up and complimented how nice my car was....he told me about how he likes maximas becuz of their quickness...I ask him "what makes you think a maxima is quick?"...and he said "oh I drive them around for LAPD"

 

hrmmm.... if i can drive my car around as a squad car, get free gas, and go as fast as i want to "chase" someone then i think LAPD would be fun to work for, for a lil while..

I have strobes in my tail lights and headlights. I only use them when I need to get somewhere in a hurry. Never used them to pull anyone over.

 

true that , i seen them on a 5.5 gen max .I talked to one of the officers that whent to my job in one of them, and he told me that they use them as a bait car for thiefs that are taking headlights.

That might explain why I have see Maximas parked in areas that are known to be problem areas where car theft is rampant. I have been to some parts of NYC and have seen Maxes parked on certain streets and I use to wander myself if the car was parked there as a bait.

 

Well i havnt seen a maxima Cop but i have seen an Altima 3.5 undercover cops here in florida

 

I know for a fact maximas are cop cars in iraq....... seen pics off of Reuters. =)

I read that this was the name for Maximas in the Miami Area because the cops use them to run up and jump out on flks down there. Did know how true it was till i seen this thread

 

I've seen undercover 5th Gen Maximas in MD. Some dude got pulled over right in front of me by one. It was one of the craziest things I've seen.

 

BTW: I saw a green 5th gen SE cop car in Queens.

 

i saw a cop in a 94 toyota corolla in southside jamaica queens..i laughed my *** off when i saw it...

 

alright personally i never seen an undecover maxima cop in nyc. i seen bunch of cops having the orange e-zpass in their car, but my NYPD buddies explained that those cars are registered with the NYPD and when needed can be used in like undecover operations. Such as some one posted a "bait" car. but having like an all out maxima driving around pulling people over for speeding thats beyond my dreams. the only think i can think of in brooklyn is like the HATZOLA guys in volunteer ambulence dressin up their personal cars wiht all kinds of strobe lights. but if this maxima undercover is true, i'm def going to join the NYPD. i'll make detective in no time. every other herb wants to race you when you drive a maxima.

I never seen any down here in TX...the closest to having it here were taxi's in the 2000 model. Do you all think the cops add on some performance mods to the maxima like they do to the supercharged cameros and vette's?

 

there are 2 or 3 unmarked police maximas (5th gens) in the Richmond, Va. area too....supposedly one of our local org'ers decided to try to pull on one on the highway (not knowing it was a cop) and promptly got pulled over

well here in aventura all undercover cops drive new maximas i've gotten pulled over a few times by them, i guess the city of aventura is just showing off they can afford better cars than miami

 

I saw a Toyota Camry pulling someone over here in SLC. No maxes tho. We do have lots of ricer undercover cars tho, tons of pimped out civics and a freakishly fast prelude that trys to race people, them pulls them over

 

 

Iwas watching a TV show late last night.. and there was a Maxima diven by COPS.... the show is called of course COPS...... they were in NY hitting drug sellers...

 

yup there is this show called" real miami police " on discovery times ,I seen two undercover 5 gen maximas pulling over people.

 

Using them when you "need to get somewhere in a hurry" is still ILLEGAL. HIGHLY illegal.

Leave the strobes to the REAL officers who "need to get somewhere in a hurry".

Theres a dark blue 6th gen undercover here in bensonhurst, brooklyn at the 62nd p.

 

The Maximas over there aren't the same Maxima you have. They're I30/35s.

 

I have seen 2 civics (riced out) and a prelude. The prelude is pretty fast and he is cop, and the 2 civics are always together. One will pull up at the light next to you and revv his engine then if you take off the other civic behind you will pull you over.

 

... I know... and still, after a long deployment, I didn't see any Maximas (I30s/35s) as police cars.

 

And they ruin them by painting them that nasty gold color....not the stock gold color...I'm talking the ugliest, mattest gold paint I've ever seen.

edit: I don't know if they modify the maximas...but I bet you've seen those TX State Troopers in their Crown Victorias...those things haul!....the Troopers also have a 5 Liter Mustang.

 

keep in mind, volunteer firefighters have strobes and whatnot in their personal cars too, so they can get to the fire station faster, they cant ever have red ones though, only blue and white at least in NY state

 

Lol. Blue here is reserved for police only and red is for fire/medical emergency vehicles. Having blue lights on your car in GA would be the ultimate way to get people out of the way.

 

i thought this was old news that max's could be used as UC's...i've seen it on a COPS episode a couple years ago. i thought it was really cool seeing a max narc at the time lol...have yet to see any such thing in orange county though. they do have accords and stuff here, however...
