what are all the tweaks I can do to speed up my automatic tranny?

Hi. I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima SE. Automatic transmission sucks, lol. I always knew that the stock 0-60 time for the manual version is 6.6s. I assumed then, that the automatic would pull of something around 6.9s. Then someone told me that it's closer to 8s. I was like, WOW, that's horrible; I didn't realize automatic is so much slower than manual. This brings me to my question: what are all the tweaks I can do to speed up my automatic transmission? My goal is to get my 0-60 time under 7 seconds. I really hope it is possible. Please state the price of the tweak next to it. Thanks.

P.S. - And no, converting my car into manual is not an option -- it's way too costly and time-consuming.

keep the pedal mashed to the floor... eventually the thing will learn to upshift higher in the rpm band... total cost: $0 excluding the extra (wasted) gas and wear-n-tear. best. mod. evar!!1.

definetly a valve body job, they are simple and effective.
a high stall torque converter is next, more involved but well worth it.
add some simple bolt ons.
laugh at the manual tranny guys missing shifts who are inconsistant at the track.
eat your cheese burger, talk on your cell phone, and drive around with out having to shift.

umm some of the fastest cars are auto. a bullet proof tranny will shift faster and crisper than any 5 speed max. not to mention it will outlast one in the long run with all the bearing issues the 5 spd guys have

man mid 6 seconds to 60 mph is insane. i dont know where that came from but that seems to be an overexaggeration. i was doing 9 seconds with a y-pipe. and now i have an intake and exhaust and i can do 8 seconds. but this is just me timing with a timer in my hand and i could be slightly off with the moment i mash the pedal to the moment i hit 60 and turn it off.
i lose traction pretty easily now so im sure that hurts my time a little, even though i like to hear the tires squeel.
but 6.6....that would be a miracle for me.
im gonna read up on that valve body mod

In a 5spd, it's very believable. The 1-2 shift is super easy and this is coming from someone who has driven stick for a little over three months.

hmm. i'd jump all over that swap, if it didnt cost so much and stuff.
i love my max but sometimes i try to be realistic in thinking about what i'll get for the car when i sell it and how much money im going to lose in the end.
i'll probably HAVE to sell it to someone on the org.
otherwise i really dont care and dump alot of cash into it i havent hit anything huge like a swap lke that though.

How much can I expect to lose on my 0-60 from a VB mod? If it's only like 0.1s, then it's not worth the cash. From that thread about a higher stall TC that I read in pmohr's post, it seems like that is my best option for improving my 0-60 time. They said it provides pretty substantial gains. However, the poster said that he wants something good for everyday driving -- something mild or whatever. I want to get the fastest possible TC out there. Which should I get? Thanks.

High stall TC will help you off the line but if you punch it from a roll, it will adversely affect the performance of your car.

not an expert with this stuff but wont a tunned ECU change how high your rpms go?, thus pulling higher speeds in each gear, in return shifting at different speeds ....... wait, maybe it'll just get you there faster but shift at the same speeds? ... im actually not sure

Only JWT can change your rev limiter and even then, you have the TCU to consider as it's the transmission's "brain" and controls shifting. You'll get there faster but you'll shift at the same speed.
