New Engine

Does the 95 Maxima ECU work at all with the 4.5 and 5th Gen Maxima engines?! Say if I wanted to raise the rev limiter...Or could I still use the newer ECU and upgrade the rev-limiter?! Thanks in advance.

Dang! I hate pipe dreams! So is it worth just putting ont he VI off the DEK and just rebuilding the Factory VQ up a bit or is the benefits minimal to jsut installing a DEK?! Does that make sense?!

OK ... the 95 ECU is probably one of the most DESIRED ECUs out there. Anyone who has a 97-99 needs to get a 95-96 ECU to get it upgraded by JWT or TS. People run DEKs and VQ35 on our ECUs all day. Using the 3.5 ECU is an absolute NIGHTMARE and should not even be thought of. As for the DEK ECU ... I wouldn't know.

This should answer your question. BTW the 95-99 engines are identical.

I realize that the 95-99 engines are identical but my question is for the DEK 2000-2001 engines. I would love to raise my rev limiter and I know I need my current ECU (1995 Maxima) to do so....what is worth more as in less expensive and brain-rattling: keeping my DE engine and upgrading the lower and upper intake manifold from the DEK or acutally just installing the DEK engine with no ECU upgrade (cause they don't make 'em)?! I'm looking for power, more power than I have (183 fwhp, 192 fwtorque) and have a limited budget of $3000....Which upgrade of engines would allow me the most?! Thanks and sorry if that's confusing...

how about you find a s/c and throw that on your car. That will give you a nice boost in hp.

Because I live half way across the country and would do it on my own... and have him do a few small things.

yeah. you really wouldnt need him to do it for you. its pretty much a direct bolt. all you neeed is the hoist. well two for the old engine, or not.

Where's Tilly at?! I have access to the hoists and tools but don't the 3.5 swaps need cams drilled and perhaps another thing that is needed when putting them in the 4th Gens?! I know I know....look in the all motor forum...

yea like being wired so the CVT works...if u dont have the variable timing in my opinion its useless to have the 3.5.......because for the 3g u spent having a SVT less motor dropped in ur car u can have safe boost with a SC and have just as much if not more power and not worrying about having the worng motor in your car

You need to learn more before posting useless posts..

It does nothing after 3k RPM.. And the fastest n/a 4g has a 3.5L, and no VTC ... If 105+ N/A trap speeds aren't your thing then

I remember a couple posts back that there was a new product in development or even available taht allows you to change your timing and A/F ratios to your own marks....could this be beneficial to the 3.5 swap to possibly get the VTCS woring witht he rest of the car?! Or is what I'm talking about totally off?!

I wanna be int he 13s!
