MAP / BARO and Absolute Pressure CEL questions...
MAP / BARO and Absolute Pressure CEL questions...
I've been trying to clear codes on my car for about a month and a half now. Here's the history:
First CEL: EGRC Soleniod Valve- replaced this valve and CEL is now gone.
Second CEL: MAP/BARO SW Solenoid/Valve- replaced this valve CEL off for about a day.
Third CELs: MAP/BARO SW Solenoid/Valve and now the Absolute Pressure Sensor too.
Now here's the thing, I ordered the parts from EverythingNissan.com. They found the EGRC Valve easy enough for me but when I ordered the MAP sensor it took a little work for them to find the part. The thing is, the EGRC Valve and the MAP sensor look exactly the same and there is also another sensor next to them that looks just like it too. EGRC valve was green...not having problems with this, but I am wondering if I was sent the wrong part for the MAP sensor since the one right next to it looks exactly like it too. These sensors are (from left to right when facing the engine bay) black and brown sensors. All three sensors have to inlets next to each other, and one metal inlet towards the end with a screw to attach to the bracket.
Any one else deal with this and if so, what color is the MAP Sensor black or brown. Any help is appreciated since I am getting horrible MPG right now. Thanks.

My MAP sensor is black , MAP/BARO sw.solenoid is brown. ('96 max)
I had codes 803 & 1302 earlier this summer & reset cel and it stayed off
for a few months, then returned a month ago.
I performed the tests in the service manual and everything checked out ok.
Eventually I took it to a shop , which found an intermittenly open wire, which
they patched up . It was in the tight bend of the wires that are clipped to
the MAP bracket on the intake snorkel.

Do you know what color the abosulte pressure valve is and where it is located. I asked for the MAP sensor when I called everythingnissan.com and they sent me a black valve so i naturally changed the black valve sensor I saw. They wouldnt change what the part looks like if they are all genuine nissan parts correct? Thanks for any input.

Steve- when you say absolute pressure "valve" , i'm assuming you are
referring to the absolute pressure "sensor" a.k.a. MAP (manifold absolute
pressure sensor), which is black and mounted right up front on the side
of the air intake. A defective map sensor can trip a code for itself
(803) as well as a code for the map/baro (1302). In my case both the
map and map/baro were fine , but a wire TO the map was ocasionally
opening - and thus triggered both codes.
