Uhhhh??? ECU LIGHT QUICK FIX!!!!! and... I'm done modding.

Well, you all know the ECU code 10 08 i was throwing... well, i was phukin around in the rain last night, slaloming around in this parking lot, steering really quickly left and right, like im doing auto-x or something. I have an I-Pod with an I-Drive FM transmitter attached and when there's no music playing, if i turn my speakers up, you can hear this loud tiny-supercharger whirring sound that my friend told me was my spark plugs firing because the tone goes along with how much gas im giving the car. Anyway, with my 'supercharger' whirring and slolaming, all of a sudden i hear this loud ZAP noise like a fricken star wars phaser or somthing. I look down at my dash, and my ECU light is OFF...???!!!! Can someone explain this to me? My e brake light is also on, and earlier when it would go on intermittantly (it stays now), if i would jab the brake pedal or make a really hard turn/brake or something, even hit a big bump in the road, it would also go off. What's up with that?

Also, im officially finished modding my car. if you don't know what i mean, look here! VroomBox

It's(whirring) not related to the spark plugs, more like the alternator ... Refresh my memory, is 10 08?

Is your batt light on too?

Does the CEL still work?

Search, brake light means low brake fluid, i.e. worn pads or a leak - that's why it would go away for a short bit when you made sudden direction changes or hit a bump, the fluid would get sloshed around inside the reservoir.

As far as the supercharged phaser experience, I really have no idea what's happening there. I would think that noise would be fuel injectors, though - don't the sparkplugs fire in a set, timed order? Not order, but I mean a timed pattern, not variable.

Check brake fluid .... then check the CEL and see if it still works.

ooo i didn't even think to see if my cel still works. how would i do that? just put the car in the on position without starting it? ECU CODE 10 08 is the EVAP canister purge control valve. The whirring noise only occurs when i have the FM transmitter in and speakers on. It's some kind of interference from something in the engine bay, spark plugs seemed to be a good explanation. im gonna go check my car out now!

Spark plugs dont whine. I think the cell going off is the beggining of your problems. You need to do some more looking around.

AGAIN, THE NOISE ONLY HAPPENS WITH MY I-POD ON, I-DRIVE PLUGGED IN, AND SPEAKERS ON. it's not a mechanical problem, and can't be heard without the preceeding conditions. "the spark plugs firing off create electrical interference, and when u press on the gas, the more you give it, the faster the plugs fire off, and that's why you hear the interference. The radio transmitter on ur i-pod picks up that interference and plays it in your radio, that's why you hear it when you turn up the volume. With iridium plugs, you wouldn't hear that" -this is what my friend told me, or something to that effect... makes sense in my mind. BUT i'm a noob.

If your friend told you to walk off a cliff, something tells me you'd do it

Does your friend sell Ir plugs by any chance?

lol no nmex, he doesn't. he's just my go-to person whenever i need car help. do YOU know what could cause this? also the s/c noise coming out of my ipod/speakers? i praise you as one of the MOST knowledgeable people in here, and thoroughly enjoy your posts, but this seems to be an anomoly! ill check for codes tomorrow, but it's approaching 4.00 am here and i've got school at 8. lol. The whistling/whirring/whatever noise ONLY started when i got my i-pod, and again, ONLY happens when it's on and plugged in. It plugs into the cig lighter. anyway... time for me to go to bed.

Its your alternator, the higher the rpm the faster the alternator spins. Get some in-line filters for your IPod connection, it will fix the problem. This should be in the Audio and Electronics section.
If it is your spark plugs(which is not) why you Iriduim spark plugs be any different? its still providing the same spark...

Ummm not quite. Stepping on the gas increases engine RPM's which spins the alty faster making the tone change.

Your alternator is causing the noise, not your spark plugs. I suspect the ZAP you heard was something in the alternator, probably the voltage regulator. Have the charging system checked before it leaves you stranded.

That supercharger type noise is sometimes a result of a bad ground from the headunit, or a result of switching to an AM headunit on the stock bose speakers. Not that this really helps the situation, but maybe it'll throw you some ideas of what to look for.

The alternator whine is usually a ground issue.
Im curious though, where do we have an ECU light in the dash? Ive never seen an ECU light come on or go off?
Do you mean a CEL?

If you get the alternator whine regardless of whether you have the iPod connected to your system or not, you have ground issues. If you have external audio amplifiers, make sure that the ground wire is no longer than necessary. Also ensure that the ground connection is secure, not loose. Make sure that the ground point is as close to the amp as possible. The shorter the ground wire, the better, and the less chances for the ground loop effect which is a known cause for most annoying noises in audio systems.

As for the slaloming in your car, your out of you mind!

... no one has said this yet...turn your radio to AM and move to a station that has no signal and turn the volume up... you will hear the same thing!! (it's louder on certain frequencies) this is not a problem. It is because the alternator puts out radio interference (they all do). sometimes it sounds like a rice muffler...me and my friend drove around for hours one day pulling up next tp people with the windows down and the volume way up like this
