Looking For New Rotors

I'm considering replacing my rotors since they are still the orginals with 69,xxx miles on them. I'm interested in the RacingBrake Slotted/Drilled Rotors advertised at CE. Are they a good brand, would you recommend them? What are you using?

TIA ,
Chris

I am using RTP Slotted and Dimpled. They are great rotors at a great price. Plus you can get them zinc plated so they will not rust around the edges or around the hub area. There is a good deal in the G/D Forums. I think Automax95 is the guy selling them. I have pictures up on my cardomain site.....page 4 I think.

you might want to check out some of the past threads about rotors - there's been a lot of opinions and discussions about what the best brake setup is. many people say that OEM pads/rotors are the best in terms of longevity and brake dust. slotted/drilled rotors might look cool, but they don't do much to decrease your braking distance on the street and they practically shred your pads which creates excess brake dust.

hope that helps.

True.

Definitely not true. There is a huge performance difference between shiesty OEM rotors, and from personal experience, Brembo rotors.

False. They do not shred your pads and create excess dust. My OEM Pads dust very little at all. Much less so then the Axxis Ultimates which would turn my wheels black with in a week. Slotted/XDrilled/Dimpled rotors wont do a whole lot to increase your braking distance over a short period of time. But when things start to heat up and your pads are emmiting gasses that is where the slots come in to play. They provide a chanel for the gasses to escape there for increasing your braking power. Its pretty marginal though.

so... lets discuss instead price range. im on a budget... i would like new rotors to fit with my stock 97 SE wheels.

whats a good choice for low end... i dont care if its slotted or dimpled or just PLAIN... i want a good rotor thats going to last and not worp.

are brembo replacement oem's good? they are plain and are cheap, good name, but dunno if they are good.

whats a good rotor for good price?

also mabe a rotor at a medium price. im not looking to spend 400$ on these things (custom maxima has some with free shipping, but 400$ is far to pricy for me).

Brembo, Wagner and Raybestos standard rotors are about $50 each, have heard good things about each.

Check out the group deals - they should have a complete set (rotors and pads) for well under $400. I currently have Brembo Slotted/Dimpled w/ Axxis Ultimate pads and DAMN does it bite hard. It's been almost a year and it feels just as "safe" as it did right after I broke them in. For those who say the difference is marginal, it sure as hell doesn't seem so...

I've done exactly this - they work great. Slots and drills are ghey ricer junk - stick to good OEM pads, new hardware, and Brembo blank rotors. Then take the stock rotors and have them machined so they're ready for use at 140k.

yes I put them on sunday, they work great! My rotors were warped so this was a huge improvement. When you get the pads heated good they grip very well with the brembo's. I am very pleased and impressed. This is the way to go
