95-96 Red/Clear by Klearz.com

I emailed Klearz.com today about getting them re-interested in making red/clears for 95 to 96's again, since they had dropped the idea before due to the CE tails and a fire that occured at their home. Well, after hearing what I've told them about the CE tails, they may be willing to reconsider. No guarantees yet, but I'm letting all of you know.

Here's the deal: they are LENSES ONLY. That would mean you'd have to re-use your stock housings and simply get rid of the red/orange lense on the outside and replace it with the new one. They will be $200 to $250. Now I realize this would never fly with .org members, so I'm trying to convince them to do a group deal at a lower price. If I talked them down to a lower price...say between $150 to $200, would you be interested? They will be similar to the David L's, rather than the CE style.

I'd basically like to get a show of support here. I need to know how many of you would be interested in a set, assuming I can get them for a reasonable price for us.

if reproduction starts im sure this time at least one batch will be sold. that thread was huge and the only thinkg that really stopped production was CM's lights. we all know they bombed pretty bad. it would be nice to see a full set of OEM clears made.

That's what these should be (full clear, with your own option of painting them). I don't think they'll be into making both inner and outer, just outer.

One thing RockfordMax suggested to me was that maybe we could talk them into an exchange program, where they fit the lenses for you if you're not comfortable putting your own lights in the oven. This would probably require a core charge, though, for obvious reasons.

Klearz shouldn't have backed out. CM's version is crappy, first and second batch.

I was one of the few that had the APC full clears that I turned into red/clears and they were accidently destroyed. I almost cried.

I've got the "red/clears" using the altezza housing and it works, but I'd MUCH rather have a red/clear version of the stock lenses.

In other words.

COUNT ME IN!

Your telling me its $150-$200 for just a plastic lenze peice that you have to install ?? Im sure they can do a bit better than that its probably a $20 lenze...

The problem with getting all clear tail lights these days is you cant get them imported from over seas any longer. If you could, Im sure someone would take 10-20 and try making a bunch of sets.

When I ordered my set from David L over 3 years ago, I paid $120 and it was his last set of 10 he was producing. If someone can get their hands on a bunch of Clear/Clear outer tail lights for the maxima, im sure someone would be able to match the red's and make them. MatthewL tails..lol

I'm only telling you what I was told. They claim they have to hand-make every set. I'm not saying all of this is final, they're looking to get feedback from us.

EDIT: Just got word from them that it's for all 4 lenses, not just the outers like I had previously stated.

why do people think davidl made the lights? all he did was open them and paint them. apc made the lights, which are mass produced in a huge factory. this cuts cost. klearz can replicate the oem lens. the mold doesnt last forever, thus a limited production. supply and demand at its finest.

imo $200 to replace all 4 lights is not out of the ball park.

Potentially even cheaper if I can talk them into a group deal.

i didnt realize these were so hard to get ahold of. i figured full clears were available on ebay all the time but i just checked and havent found any.
in MY opinion, i think anything over a hundred bucks is just WAY too expensive. I just couldnt justify it. Think about all the things you can buy for 150-200 dollars.
Didnt someone do a write up on how to make them for 95/96ers? i couldnt find it though.
I'll probably just end up making my led tail lights with my redded out tails...
im just being money conscious i guess....

as far as i know, its rather difficult to make the 95-96 tails red/clear...the 97-up ones are pretty easy to eliminate the amber, but i looked at my 95 tails the other day, and i think i basically would need to purchase a diff set...

Honestly i have been waiting a long time for red clears, i just got tired of hearing it now.. i mean its something i really wanted but i figured it was not worth the money for the David L ones. The tail lights seemed like a tease if you did not have the money.

i doubt klearz.com will really do it again, but keep pushing Tatanko!
if their set comes out nice for a reasonable price, i would definately buy it. Nothing cleans up the back of the car better than red clears.. Hopefully if more ppl start emailing klearz.com itll probably get some where further

btw how much does the CE redclears cost? they remind me of the Acura TL lights with all the diamond cuts

I got mine.

But if anything is to ever happen to these tails, I'm just going to get a 97 trunk lid and get gen2 (led) altezzas on it.

If I EVER were to get rearended, I would get a full 97+99 rear end and get outer read clear tails. I would hate that but its 10X's better than the ugly red on amber...

the 97-99 bumper is deeper but they line up fine with everything. the 97-99 has a slight curve under the outer tails where it meets the indent/curve of the 97-99 trunk. but to most they look the same.

the altezza lense looks too clear to just use it as a replacement...its like clear not white like our stock lenses.

i donno but if you see in that write up where he says "clear ceilling plastic" i think thats how he gets that white look. i dont think i'm going to make my own though unless i find altezzas for a steal.

Gen 2 = second generation altezza styled tails only available for 97-99 Maximas. Google is your friend.
