another odd problem, please help.....

for some reason when i turn my car on, it kicks over and then just dies a sec later (currently working, normal as could be). what could be causing this? a week or two ago, when i turn the car on the rpms jump around (from like 800-1600) like someone was reving the car. i wanna have this looked at but am not sure what to tell the guy what to look for, what should i tell him? thx

Is your car throwing any codes? Does it only do this in the morning when you first turn it on?

Check which codes you have if your CEL is on. I would also clean out the trottle body as well as the AICV (Idle Air Control Valve).

If you don't have a reader, take to autozone or somewhere similar.

Here in California they are not allowed to scan the car anymore. They can however let you borrow the scanning tool . I did this for my mom's car a couple of weeks ago.
