I have a question..I have a 2000 maxima gxe with 158,00 miles..whenever i put it on park or neutral the car makes a shuttering noise from the engine area..and then it shutts off, but when it's in drive it drives with no issues what so ever and very smooth could this possibly be the MAF problem? any input would be greatly appreciated..

is the ecu throwing any codes?
codes or not, the problem could still be the maf. I had the same stalling problem in my 2k se, and after replacing the maf, my car was good as new.

does your exhhaust reak too, cuz mine did on my old 00 and it was the MAF

 

after the car shuts off, the service engine light does comes on..but after i turn the car on, it goes back to normal. and i'm not sure if the muffler reaks...but i know for sure right before it stalls the rpm dropps fast specially after i hit the accelerator fast and it shuts off right away..but like i said only on neutral or parking. and the whining noise from the engine area it's annoying..I wounder if my car would pass emmissions with that problem.
