Radio shut off, headlight shut off, hesitation, then back to normal

It been a long time since I posted here - good to see the max community still up and strong

Well, back to the original problem in the topic title - WTF? These are the symptoms that my dad's experiencing on his '96 max. Alternator is 5 years old, battery is 3 years old.

The scenario happened as so - my dad is driving along when all of a sudden the radio shuts off, then the headlights shut off. He then tries to pass someone and experiences hesistation after going WOT. He comes back home, only to drive it again around the block and it seems all the issues went away. Currently, the car starts up perfectly, with everything functioning as it should.

Thanks in advance for any advice/pointers

It does sound like it is the battery terminals. You might have a corrosion problem. Also check the battery voltage. If you had a bad connection at the terminals, you battery might not be recharging correctly.

I had the same thing happen when I didn't tighten my negative battery cable very tight. It would shut off the lights, radio, etc. while I was driving and then come back on.
