Question about the antenna *Please Help*

My parents went and picked out a sweet little Maxima for me that I bought for a great price. However they never checked the radio and the antenna is bent and the motor struggles when going up and down. Heres my question:

I dont want the big ugle metal antenna, especially if its gonna sound like crap going up and down and look like crap and cost too much to fix. Can I use something like this? Could I install it myself with basic car/tool knowledge? I just want the radio to work, and it to be cheap and the better look is a bonus.

A replacement mast for your power ant. is cheap. Go to your local dealer and just get a new mast. It's probaby going to give you the best overall reception, plus it powers down and away when your not using it.

How much would a mast cost? plus installation etc wouldnt it be a little expensive (to a student)?

I was hoping that little universal one could just replace it and be a quick fix that looks kinda cool, especially compared to the big ugly OEM antenna

MAXRB8: I checked out the link for the antennae mast. When you installed it, did you notice if the tip was round and tapered like the OE unit? Some of the replacement masts out there have a bigger tip that doesn't allow the mast to park correctly. Plus, the bigger tip looks ridiculous. I would appreciate a hit back to let me know. Thanks, Ted

Disconnect the power to the antenna. Even with a fully functional mast, it will get screwy in the winter. Will freeze and not retract.

Just so you know

This is a brand new aftermarket, universal YSA racing
car antenna black. Easy to install.
This antenna is for look, and dose not work.
