Today, Mardigrasmax and I went to Hattiesburg to meet up with nvmymax2. We then headed off to the Hattiesburg race track to race. It's called Hub City Dragway. Pretty cool place, very soft on the rules. It wasn't necessary to wear a helmet, wear long pants, etc. The condition? Well, let just say it was HOT!!! The track temperature was 130 degree at one time. We were sweating like pigs.

Here are a few things about my run that might affected my time:

First thing, remember I have an automatic.

I ran on my stock 15" rims on crappy Goodyear RSA 215/60R15 tires.

For whatever reason, I forgot about the gasoline, I had about 3/4 of gas in the tank. As you know, they can make a difference.

I also forgot to clean out my CAI filter, which sounded quite dirty to me.

I didn't adjust my tire pressure. I left it at 35psi. It might have or might not made a difference, I don't know.

This was my first time drag racing...ever. So, I didn't know what to expect. I ran a total of 7 times.

My very first run:
RT: 1.136
60': 2.399
E.T.: 15.8
MPH: 88.601

Not too bad I think for my first ever run.

I got time slips, so if you guys don't trust me, I can take a pic for you. Although, the times weren't great, so not exactly something I would be proud to make up.

As I said, it was HOT as heck. So, that affected the runs early on. It did got cooler when the sun went down. And the run show it.

My best run was when it was much cooler.

RT: .737
60': 2.369
E.T.: 15.519
MPH: 89.732

Guess what kind of car I ran against? A GTP! A very close race, I edged it out in the end. You should of heard this guy earlier, he was talking trash. We even have this on video. I can't wait until Matt upload the videos up. Thanks to Matt's cousin, Mark, taping it.

I'll let Matt and Blake post their times. I don't have their time slips, but let just say, they did better than me.

All the runs I was manually shifting, except for one. I power brake to 2k rpms and shifted at about 6200 rpms. Other time I shifted at redline and got worse times, so shifting at 6200 rpms was best for me.

The one I just left it in D, I got 16.036 at 87.077mph. However, I got my best RT just leaving it in D, RT: .575 What a difference! Can we say, Don's VB mod? Good thing I'm in on the GB.

All in all, I had a great time. If not for the darn heat, it would be even better. I'm hooked for sure! I'll do more of this in the future that's for sure.

Most of those runs, I ran against either Matt or Blake. One time, I ran alone. My best time was against that GTP. I also ran against a Ford Lightning, that sucker was fast! I ran a 15.672 at 89.079 mph. against that Lightning. I think that Lightning ran 13s.

My mods are: CAI, WSP y-pipe, and Apexi WS exhaust. Going to get Don's VB soon. After that, can we say, NOS?

So, is my time good or bad for the mods that I got? Bear in mind a few factors I listed might have affected my times. Could have made a difference. Too bad, my time just suck leaving it in D. I had to manually shift to get these times. I wonder will Don's VB mod make any difference leaving it in D?

Hehe, great job! You will like NOS. If i kill a bottle in 2 days, would you call me NOS happy? hehe.

BTW, i ran a 15.5 and im auto too! I ran with my chrome rims and a CAI. That was it at the time, no time with NOS.

Remember, your time will improve from here sinc eyou have an idea how it goes and how well your car grips. Show everyone what our autos are made of.

Btw, it was domestic city at the track. Besides a newer style Prelude, we were the only imports there. Needless to say, we were no match for the domestic. Although, we didn't run against them that much. Not me anyway, besides that Lightning and GTP. Matt ran against more than a few domestics.

Thanks Keith. The race against the GTP was so close, I wasn't sure who won until I got my time slip. Plus, after going back to the pits, I noticed Blake and the guys were smiling/excited, so I asked them to make sure who won. I saw the video that Mark taped. It was so so close. I pulled him in on the 3rd gear, strong 3rd gear.

Any of you have tips on how I can get better times next time out? I know my times aren't that great, even more so by the lack of responses. Ho hum, right? Any tips would be appreciated. Look at the things I said about that might have affected my times. Could those things really made a difference?

Dude! Your times are great for an auto Maxima. You were on those Good Year RSA tires, yuck! You need the valve body (wich is on the way, right?) and perhaps a little nitrous would help too. With a little bitty 50hp shot your easy low 14's. After that the rest of the mods are hard core $$$ not basic bolt ons. Be proud because, you hung with a ZEX'd 5g auto didnt you?

FYI using the correction factors for altitude and climate your runs could have been like this if the weather was cooler and we were at sea level with low humidity.

Corrected ET/MPH:
Actual Altitude: 15.44 @ 90.23 MPH

Oh yea and you got 2.3 60' times thats awesome. SOme folks strugle to get 2.3's. Witht your new tires you'll be in the 2.2's mabye 2.1's

Also dont forget to plan out to be on 3/8 a tank when you race.

damnit, i was tricked! I was thinking this was about road racing! I was reading along and saw he was running on his stock tires and had his tire pressure at 35psi (way too low for road racing) and mentioning about his gas being too high...

Most drag strips don't force you to wear a helmet unless you're 12.99 or faster. Shorts is typically a no-go, though. Good runs! Interesting trapspeeds. My CRX clicked off 2.4 60 footers, with 15.80 ETs and 88-89mph, most recently. This is with some crazy alignment too...

I'm guessing your CRX is mostly stock? I know of a guy here who has a CRX that runs low 13s with just bolt ons. And the handling is amazing.

No CRX with the D16A (SOHC 1.6L 108hp, Si) is doing low 13s with bolt-ons (excluding nitrous). I have I/H/E but, i have a really worn engine and horrible alignment for drag racing... I have 1/16" toe-out in the front and 1/16" toe-in in the rears...which makes for horrible straight line acceleration
