Piaa Xtreme white plus 9004 question
Piaa Xtreme white plus 9004 question
Hi boys, I got my bulbs in the mail like stated above today. They package says 4000k HB1 12v 65/45w > 120/95w, will these bulbs harm or melt my stock harness? They are a 9004 and stock wattage is 65/45. What does the arrow pointing to 120/95w mean?
Thanks in advance

i have PIAA Xtreme White's for my headlights and foglights, they are the same wattage as stock...
Read carefully, I remember the packaging having information such as "as bright as xx/xx watt bulbs" on the front, read all the fine print and see what the wattage is, not what the light output is "like."

They are pure white, and I love them.
They have slightly less visibility in bad weather conditions (yellow light is the correct color for best visibility in all weather conditions, but hey it doesnt look as nice as white.)
However the bulbs that were in my car sucked, and I think they are better in bad weather then the old ones that were in the car when I got it anyways.
When it's dry out, or snowy, you can see forever and then some... and the high beams, holy crap
I've had mine in for ~ 1.5 years or maybe a little longer and they are still fine;
the tip of the bulb has a blue cap, but they give off no blue light. If you look directly into the headlights you can see a reflection of the blue in a small circle in the center of the headlight, but that is only if you are perfectly level looking straight into them; and even then it's not blue light, you're actually just seeing a reflection of the tip of the bulb inside your housing.

99SEL4ME, I suggest you take the exact part number of the bulbs and lookup online to see what you can find about specs,
from what you said with "HB1 12v 65/45 =>120/95w" it sounds like they're saying "these bulbs use wattage 65/45 that acts like 120/95," but better make sure then to be sorry latter.
give us some part #'s or mfr part#'s or something on it so we can take a looksie.
I know for a fact mine use stock wattage, so no they havent melted my stock harness (since it is stock wattage -- there is no reason why it would.)

but i was EXTREMELY careful during installation, they're in a tight spot and besides not touching with your fingers, you have to make sure they dont touch any spec of grease/dirt on their way in too...
I've mine in for almost three years without issue. They are a nice bright white light, and like Tom says above, they are great on dry or snowy roads. The high beams are definitely impressive. I had Silverstars, and these outperform them a ton. They are much better on wet roads than the Sylvanias. The PIAA's have shown no indication of causing any problem with my stock harness. The key is careful installation. As said before, you have to take absolute care in not touching them with bare fingers. I install my bulbs always with a pair of rubber gloves on so as not to touch the bulbs. Personally, I think they perform very well and are worth the money invested.
Well, I'm the originator of this thread and I installed the Piaa's today and the matching foglites. They are very bright white, I must say. I drove to my Wednesday night poker game on a wet road and it seems like my Sylvania Xtravisions gave a little better light output on the road. On the my way home, the roads were dry and they were better. I don't know, I'll leave them in for now as the SOBs costed me $46. Thanks for all your input.
And now the verdict, I think the Piaa's are whiter, but not brighter than my Sylvania Xtravisions. I was looking at the light output on the road tonight I believe this is true. I may switch back to the Xtravisions but keep the Extreme whites in the fogs. I'm not that disappointed though.
